The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is the new king of Compact SUV segment in India. It has not only been quick with displacing the Ford EcoSport from the top of the sales chart but has also enabled Maruti Suzuki to capture a big chunk of sales in the SUV segment. The Vitara Brezza is currently available only with a Diesel engine option. While the majority of SUV buyers prefer a Diesel-powered vehicle, the fact that the sales of Petrol-powered vehicles is finally picking up can’t be ignored. Hence, Maruti is now readying a Petrol variant of the Brezza. The Vitara Brezza Petrol launch will happen in early 2017. Maruti hasn’t been vocal about the exact launch date of the Brezza Petrol. However, it is very likely that the Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol model will be launched early next year. This means that the Petrol-powered Brezza will follow the advent of Baleno RS and Ignis. Currently, Maruti is focused onto readying the Baleno RS and the Ignis for their Indian innings.

The Brezza Petrol is likely to go on sale in all three (L, V, Z) trims. There are very good chances that the Boosterjet Petrol engine would be imported into India. This could lead to a price tag that will be higher than that of the Diesel model.
Even thought the Petrol-powered Brezza would be slightly pricier than the Diesel model, it will, in most chances, still come across as a value-for-money proposition. The direct competition to the Brezza Petrol will be the Ford EcoSport EcoBoost variant.

The Boosterjet engine is likely to pump out a max. power of 110 BHP and a peak torque of 170 Nm. Performance will be largely similar to the Baleno RS. However, a slightly higher weight could lead to marginally lower fuel mileage and acceleration. Even for the Petrol model, Maruti won’t offer an All Wheel Drive system even as an option.

Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol Exterior Design
In terms of design and styling, the Petrol model will be same as the Diesel model. The highlight of car’s styling has to be its dual-tone paint job. The front-end boasts a stylish radiator grille that was first seen on the iV-4 concept. The neatly sculpted bumper dials in some more aggression to the car’s front-end. When seen in its side profile, you will be quick to notice the clean surfaces and the stylish alloy wheels. It looks sporty and more stylish than many players in the market. The rear-end is also very neat and looks sufficiently attractive. Overall, the Brezza looks smart and upmarket.
Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol Interior Design
The interior of the Brezza Petrol too will be same as the Diesel model. It will have a smart-looking dashboard that will have body color accents for added style. The cabin looks adequately cheerful and is pretty well put together. The Vitara Brezza is a strict five seater but you get a large boot.
Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol Engine & Transmission
The Brezza is currently on sale with just one engine option. This Diesel engine is a Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre Multijet Diesel engine that has a max. power of 89 bhp and a peak torque of 200 Nm. The Petrol model will get a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine from the Baleno RS. This new 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine produces a max. power of 110bhp and a peak torque of 170Nm. This engine will be imported into the country. The engine is likely to come mated to a 5-Speed Manual Transmission. The Boosterjet engine is a really modern unit. It should be a strong rival to Ford’s EcoBoost engine.
