Bajaj Pulsar CS400 Bookings October 2016

As we just said, the Bajaj Pulsar VS400 launch is likely to take place by the end of this year. Unofficial bookings for this bike could commence at select dealerships anytime in October. You can safely expect us to come up with all news updates on the launch of this upcoming Pulsar. The production Pulsar CS400 will have a 373 cc engine and could have a top speed of more than 160 KMPH. With such figures, the VS400 will become the most powerful and also the fastest Bajaj Pulsar in India. The VS400 will be Bajaj’s second major product launch this year. First one being the V15 commuter.

It will also become the most expensive bike to be ever sold by BAL. Sourcing its motor from the highly capable KTM 390 Duke, the VS400 will not only offer similar levels of performance but will also boast of a world-class design. It is not for sure at the moment, but rumours abound that the VS400 might also give birth to a 200cc sibling (CS200) sometime after its launch. We believe that the production Bajaj Pulsar CS400 launch will be one of the most important dates ever for Bajaj Auto Ltd.

Powering the VS400 will be a re-tuned version of the same 373.6 cc, single-cylinder, 4-valve, liquid cooled motor that powers the KTM 390 Duke. This engine comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and for the CS400, it is expected to produce a maximum power-torque of 35PS-35 Nm. The engine will receive DTSi Triple Spark Plug technology for the CS400. It is expected that the production Pulsar CS400 would have a top speed of roughly 155 km/h. The bike will get disc brakes at both ends and feature 17-inch alloys. Single-channel ABS could be offered as standard while a dual-channel ABS will cost extra. Here’s the Bajaj Pulsar CS400 specifications table based on our estimates.

The concept CS400 that we saw at the Auto Expo 2014 boasted of upside down front forks. However, the production-spec model will get regular front forks. The rear, however, will certainly come with a monoshock suspension. Also, while the concept had a single seat, the production model will come with split seats. Other than these the product model will stay true to the concept model.

The Bajaj Pulsar VS400 Mileage could be roughly 30 kmpl. The lower (than 390 Duke) power should have led to better mileage.

Bajaj Pulsar CS400 Review Video

Bajaj Pulsar CS400 (VS400) Design Review

The Bajaj Pulsar CS400 has a world-class design. Seemingly inspired from the very tasty Ducati Diavel, the CS400 has enough set your pulse racing. The CS400 looks every bit a bigger sibling of the 200NS. The front facade is really aggressive and boasts of a large headlamp with LED fixtures. The production-spec model, however, misses out on the concept’s chunky upside-down front forks. Also, while the RS200 gets clip-on handlebars, the Bajaj Pulsar CS400 makes do with a conventional tubular handlebar to carry a street fighter image. The CS400 gets an all-digital instrument cluster which should offer a speedometer, tachometer, odometer, fuel level, gear shift indicator and many tell tale signs. The LCD display is white backlit.

In another deviation from the concept, the VS400 gets a split-seat. Bits like a sculpted fuel tank and tank extensions along with stylish alloy wheels go on to further enhance the design. The camouflage does little to hide the bike’s actual shape, which closely resembles the concept. And according to some leaked images, the upcoming Pulsar looks almost exactly like the concept bike. Unlike most other bikes on sale in India, the Pulsar VS400 will not get any flashy body graphics. Instead, the exterior will be a combination of the base colour complemented by blacked out body parts. We are pretty sure that the Bajaj Pulsar CS400 launch will see the advent of a really mean-looking, powerful and highly desirable Indian bike.

Bajaj Pulsar VS400 Colours

The CS400 will go on sale in following paint options – Red, Black, Yellow, Blue, Silver

Actual list of colours and specifications will be available only after the launch takes place.

Bajaj Pulsar VS400 Competition

The CS400 will be rivaled by the likes of Mahindra Mojo 300 on one end, and by its own cousin, the KTM 390 Duke, on the other. Also, while not a direct rival, the CS400 is also likely to lock horns with the recently launched Royal Enfield Himalayan 410cc adventure motorcycle. The new Royal Enfield Himalayan has gone on sale for INR 1.55 lakhs and becomes the first-of-its-kind motorbike from Royal Enfield. The Himalayan also becomes the first-ever adventure touring Indian motorcycle.

In comparison, the Bajaj Pulsar CS400 won’t have many adventure motorcycling credentials but it is almost for sure that both these near-400cc motorcycles will fall in the same price bracket. The CS400 could also rival the upcoming BMW G310R.

Bajaj Pulsar VS400 Engine and Transmission

Powering the Bajaj Pulsar CS400 is 373 cc single cylinder engine. This liquid cooled motor is closely related to the one that powers the KTM Duke 390. Power output is likely to hover around the 35 PS mark while peak torque will be roughly 35 Nm. A 6-speed gearbox will handle transmission duties. The CS400 will get disc brakes on both ends – 300 mm Front and 230 mm rear. Other confirmed specifications include telescopic forks for the front suspension and gas charged monoshock for the rear. 17-inch alloy wheels will be standard.
