Dacia is to offer its popular Duster SUV with a dual clutch transmission for the first time.

The six-speed EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) gearbox will be paired with the 109bhp 1.5-litre diesel engine when it goes on sale in the UK in October.

The new Duster model was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, with Dacia claiming it will deliver the smoothness of an auto with the efficiency of a manual. CO2 emissions are said to be 116g/km, while fuel economy is 62.8mpg.

The transmission comes with Hill Start Assist and will be offered on Laureate and Prestige two-wheel drive Dusters.

Dacia range updates

The Laureate will sell for £14,895, while the Prestige will be slightly more expensive at £15,795.

The addition of the EDC follows on from the Duster’s recent raft of updates, which included new upholstery, DAB digital radio on Ambience versions upwards and the availability of options such as diamond cut 16-inch alloys and parking sensors.
