Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division appears to be working on a hot version of the Jaguar F-Pace 4x4. Spied here testing at Nurburgring, the high-performance SUV will go up against the likes of the Porsche Macan Turbo, and could arrive within the next 12 months.

The Jaguar F-Pace SVR will be the second Jag to receive the SVR treatment following on from the F-Type earlier this year. The SVR team has its pick of Jag’s new model range as to what it develops next and given the huge popularity of SUVs at the moment, its hardly surprising to see that the F-Pace is next in line.

The prototype at the Nurburgring is heavily disguised but there are a few clues that mark it out as the performance model. The biggest giveaways are the new alloy wheels which house beefier brakes for improved stopping power, while a tweaked front bumper with larger air intakes hides behind the disguised front end.

Under the bonnet, Jaguar’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8 is likely to be supplying the power via an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. It’s the same engine and gearbox combination found in the Range Rover Sport SVR, which develops 542bhp and 680Nm of torque. However, in the F-Type the same powertrain has been tuned to 567bhp.

The flagship 4x4 won’t be short of opposition when it arrives with BMW currently working on an X3 M, while rival Audi is working on a new SQ5.
