Ford adds Transit Custom Colour Edition and new Sport models

Ford Transit Custom Colour Edition

Colourful new mid-sized vans are joined by a much larger selection of Sport models

Ford has revealed new Colour Edition and Sport models of its Transit Custom van.

The new Transit Custom Colour Editions use bright two-tone colour schemes to stand out. Four Colour Edition schemes are available: Race Red, Deep Impact Blue, Frozen White with Jet Black contrasts, and Shadow Black with Race Red. All versions ride on black 17-inch alloy wheels.

The Colour Editions are limited to short wheelbase vans with standard roofs and are based on 290 Trend models, meaning you’ll get the 168bhp 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The chassis settings found in the Sport Series van are thrown in too.

The Colour Editions are also reserved for the mid-size Transit Custom range only, not the full-size Transit, and just 400 units will be made. First deliveries will arrive in spring 2017.

Alongside the colourful additions, the Transit Custom Sport will now be available in six different variants, as the number of body styles and seating configurations has been increased.

Sport models benefit from a distinctive bodykit with colour coded bumpers, door mirrors and handles. As standard, 17-inch alloys are thrown in, but larger 18-inch wheels are also available.

In the cabin, Sport models get partial leather interiors and the Ford SYNC connectivity package. They’re based on the 290 series Transit Custom, and again use the 168bhp 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual – though an automatic is available.

Chassis and suspension tweaks make the cut too, with a thicker front anti-roll bar and the addition of one at the rear.

Sport trim makes its way over to the Tourneo Custom minivan as well, with the unique option of rear air suspension. Order books for the new Sport models open at the end of the year, with deliveries commencing in spring 2017.
