The Bajaj Dominar 400 went on sale earlier this month. With a starting price of just Rs 1.36 Lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), the new Bajaj flagship promises to bring performance biking closer to the masses. The Dominar 400 is powered by a 373.3 cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that churns out 35 PS-35 Nm. It comes mated to a 6-Speed Manual Transmission. Another highlight is the bike’s slipper clutch. The new Bajaj Dominar 400 has a claimed top speed of 148 KMPH. However, its speedo-indicated top speed could be around 170 KMPH! The Dominar 400 borrows its engine from the Duke 390. However, for the Dominar 400, this 373.3cc engine delivers lesser power and torque. The D390 is capable of hitting a top speed of more than 160 KMPH. The Dominar 400, however, has a claimed top speed of 148 KMPH. But if the above image is anything to go by, the speedo-indicated top speed could be in the vicinity of 165-170 KMPH. Of course, ‘speedo-error’ comes into play here. We believe the Dominar 400 is capable enough to hit a true top speed of 145 KMPH.

Bajaj Dominar 400 0-100 KMPH Timing

The KTM 390 Duke has a 0-100 KMPH timing of 5.50 seconds. In comparison, the Dominar 400 has a claimed 0-100 KMPH timing of 8,23 seconds. The huge disparity is courtesy of the de-tuning the engine has received for its application in the Dominar 400. In real world conditions, the Bajaj Dominar 400 0-100 KMPH timing should be around 8.5 seconds. This still makes the Dominar 400 the quickest Bajaj bike ever.

The Bajaj Dominar 400 gets the same 373.3 cc engine that is offered in the Duke 390. However, for the Dominar 400, the engine has been re-tuned to offer a lower power-torque of 35 PS-35 Nm. The lower power definitely leads to a higher average mileage. The Dominar 400 benefits from DTSi Triple Spark Plug technology. The new bike gets disc brakes at both its wheels. It also gets an optional Dual Channel ABS.
