Isuzu will follow up the successful introduction of the D-Max V-Cross with the launch of the MU-X SUV this year. A rival to the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour, the MU-X will replace the ageing MU-7. Recently, Isuzu unveiled a facelift of the MU-X for the Thai market that features visual upgrades. This is the version that will make it to India by mid-2017. Expect prices to start at around Rs. 25 lakh (ex-showroom). Isuzu will manufacture the MU-X locally at their facility in Andhra Pradesh. Which means prices will be very competitive. Expect the Isuzu MU-X range in India to start at around Rs. 25 lakh. Isuzu might even price it under Rs. 23 lakh to give the MU-X and edge over its rivals. In India, the MU-X’s main competition will be in the form of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Chevrolet Trailblazer.

In Thailand, the MU-X is available with a 1.9 L Diesel that makes 150 HP and 350 Nm and a 3.0 L Diesel that makes 177 HP and 380 Nm. India-spec MUX is likely to feature the 3.0 L unit with manual and automatic transmission options.

2017 Isuzu MU X India Review – Exterior Design
Isuzu recently unveiled an updated version of the MU-X for Thailand. It features a new front bumper. There is a slightly modified grille along with some chrome applique around the fog lamp area. The headlamps get LED daytime running lamps along with projector units. At the back, the MU-X gets restyled bumpers along with LED detailing for the tail lamps. There aren’t any major changes, apart from new alloys wheels. The side profile of the MU-X bears very strong resemblance to the Chevrolet Trailblazer. That is because both SUVs share the same platform.
2017 Isuzu MU X India Review – Interior Design
On the inside, the resemblance to the Trailblazer and V-Cross is stronger. The centre console features a touchscreen unit with vertical AC vents on either side. Placed below the touchscreen is a circular setup for the automatic climate control. Unlike the Trailblazer, the MU-X features a much simpler looking instrument console. The Thai-spec model seen in the images here features a black beige colour scheme along with faux wood inserts. India-spec MU-X is likely to get a similar treatment. The cabin also features leather seats and seating for 7 occupants.
