Datsun Redi Go 1000cc vs Redi Go 800cc

The Datsun Redi Go was launched here in June 2016. While the bargain-basement hatchback hasn’t exactly set the sales charts on fire, it has still managed to establish itself in the entry-level car market. With an aim to improve the Redi Go’s sales performance, Datsun India will now launch a 1000cc version of this hatchback. The new Redi Go variant will mainly rival the Maruti Alto K10 and the Renault Kwid 1.0. The 1.0-litre Redi Go will share in plenty with the 0.8-litre model but will offer more performance at a higher price tag. Basically, the 1000 Redi Go will be to its 800cc model what the 1.0-litre Kwid is to its 0.8-litre sibling. We compare the 1000cc RediGo with the 800cc version in this post here. Prices of the Redi Go 1000cc should start around ₹ 3.65 Lakh. The new model will be available only in the high-end trims. While it will be pricier than the 800cc version, the 1.0-litre Redi Go is likely to hold a price advantage over the Kwid 1.0-litre variants.

Quite obviously, the 1000cc RediGo will be more powerful than the 800cc version. While the Redi Go currently outputs a max. power of 53 BHP and a peak torque of 72 Nm, the Redi Go 1000cc version will offer around 67 BHP and 91 Nm. It will also offer an option of AMT. Expect the new engine variant to offer only slightly lower mileage than 800cc sibling.
