The new Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster gets the modifications already seen on the hard-top car

Lamborghini has taken the lid of its latest supercar – the Aventador S Roadster. This raging bull is expected to cost £251,462 here in the UK, and comes equipped a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 producing 740hp and 690Nm of torque at 5,500rpm.

Should you push its permanent four-wheel-drive system to the maximum, the S will get from a standstill to 62mph in 3 seconds flat, which means the 50kg weight penalty for choosing the open top lifestyle over the coupe only costs you 0.1 seconds of sprint time. Once more, should you find yourself on a road with no speed limits, you can match the coupe’s top speed of 217mph.

As part of the improvements to the Aventador’s handling over previous models, this S version features new active suspension, new four-wheel steering, and new EGO driving mode – previously seen on the Coupe. All these changes are claimed to sharpen the turn-in of the Aventador and improve responsiveness when driving.

To ensure your gear changes match the high speeds of the rest of the car, a seven-speed flappy-paddle gearbox changes gears in under 50 milliseconds. Happily, when you realise the end of the tarmac is approaching with vigour, the S Roadster is well prepared with carbon ceramic brakes as standard.

As with a lot of cars these days, irrespective of whether it is a supermini or a supercar, there is wide range of personalisation options. Thanks to the Ad Personam personalization program Lamborghini offers, there is countless potential for owners to ruin or customise their cars, depending on your point-of-view.

The roof itself, is a removable hardtop which gets stored in the front trunk and weighs just 6kg, so no need to take out a gym membership if you are considering buying one. This too can be personalised inside and out, with examples including one with a shiny carbon fibre finish exterior and Alcantara interior combination.

Lamborghini has also remembered drivers may use its vehicles on a regular basis and included Apple CarPlay as standard, which is accompanied by a TFT digital dashboard. First deliveries are expected to land in February 2018 – just in time for April showers...
