New Lamborghini Aventador 'Performante' test mule spotted

New spy pictures show Aventador testing with similar disguise to Huracan Performante

Rumours of a potential ‘Performante’ version of the Lamborghini Aventador have been given another douse of fuel with new spyshots of a subtly revealing test mule of the brand's flagship supercar.

From the front, this Aventador looks largely identical to the standard model, but it's at the back where things get a bit more interesting. The prototype boasts a rear exhaust disguise that bears a strong resemblance to early prototypes of the Huracan Performante.

The beefed up track version of the Aventador's smaller sibling came with a large spoiler and twin exhausts emerging from between the tail-lamps. It also still features the standard rectangular exhaust that first debuted on the Murcielago back in 2001, which is likely to be a fake to throw onlookers off the scent.

It’s unclear yet as to whether the Aventador Performante will actually see the light of day. After all, the LP750-4 SuperVeloce has served well as the juiced up alternative to the standard Aventador, with 50bhp extra from the 6.5-litre V12 engine and 50kg shaved off the weight.

Alongside the coupe prototype, the white Aventador appears to be a Spyder edition, with a black carbon roof that can be disassembled and put into the boot. We could potentially see the Aventador Performante next year, but we'll have to hold out for full details.
