Volkswagen India, the Indian subsidiary of the popular German auto-maker, hasn’t really been able to make it to the top of sales charts. Make no mistake, for the company has some really well-sorted models on sale here. However, somehow, these cars have pretty much failed to strike a chord with the majority of Indian new car buyers. However, VW India has now come up with a plan to give its sales performance a much needed shot in the arm. A part of this plan is the launch a handful of all-new models and special editions of existing cars. One such product is the Volkswagen Vento ALLSTAR special edition you see here. This new car will launch ahead of the fast-approaching Diwali season with the intention of finding many takers during the period of increased car sales. Akin to the Polo ALLSTAR that was launched earlier, this new Vento variant gets additional features, but no mechanical or design updates.

The 2017 Vento ALLSTAR is based on the Comfortline trim. It offers a handful of new features, mostly for the interior, to make the car a more attractive option for upper C-segment car buyers. Prices are expected to be Rs 30,000 higher than the regular Comfortline trim. The ALLSTAR edition will be available with all three engine options- 1.2-litre turbo petrol, 1.6-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, 1.5-litre turbo Diesel. Of course, the new variant will launch only for a limited time period. This special variant will launch as a part of VW’s Volksfest this month. It’s noteworthy that Volkswagen India has been exporting the ALLSTAR and GT trims of the Vento to Malaysian car market since April this year.

Volkswagen Vento ALLSTAR Prices
1.2 Petrol | Rs 10.68 lakh |
1.6 Petrol | Rs 9.54 Lakh |
1.5 Diesel | Rs 10.79 Lakh |
The Vento ALLSTAR 2017 will command a premium of about Rs 30,000 over the regular Vento Comfortline. The limited edition will try to justify the price premium by offering more in terms of comfort and convenience features. It will be available with all of the three engine options that this sedan offers. While the 1.5-litre TDI Diesel engine variant will cost Rs 10.79 lakh, the price of the 1.2-litre TSI Petrol engine variant will roughly Rs 10.68 lakh. The cheapest engine variant will be the 1.6-litre MPI Petrol, which should have an ex-showroom price of RS 9.54 lakh. Of course, the best part about this new variant is that all the new features are factory-fitted. Hence, there is no effect on the car’s warranty.

The ALLSTAR edition will be the second new variant of the Vento to launch in recent times. Earlier this year, the manufacturer launched the Vento Highline Plus that came with some really premium features. These included- LED headlights, LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), rear-view camera with park assist, indicators integrated into the ORVMs, 3D-effect taillamp motifs, and stylish Zirkonia alloy wheels. The Vento ALLSTAR, being a cheaper model, will miss out on all of these premium features.

- Leather-Wrapper Hand Brake Lever

Seen above is a list of all the features that the new car will come with. It is very much probable that the new car will be based on the Comfortline trim. Hence, other than the new features you see in the list above, the new car will also get all the features that the Comfortline trim offers. This mid-level trim gets most of the essentials that one expects out of a C2-segment sedan in this price bracket. Also, Volkswagen India might decide to offer an optional touchscreen infotainment system on the new limited edition. The Comfortline trim doesn’t offer this feature, not even as an optional extra.
