Mahindra and Mahindra has finally decided to do something about the poor sales performance of its micro-SUV, the KUV100. It has come out with what is essentially a mid-life facelift that is likely to increase the appeal of this slow-selling car. Dubbed as the Mahindra KUV100 NXT, the new facelift carries a handful of upgrades over the regular model. It’s still not the most comprehensive of the facelifts we’ve ever seen, no, actually far from it. However, the company is sure that the recent batch of updates will help the KUV find more takers. Like we told you, the new KUV100 NXT isn’t the most comprehensive update we’ve seen in this day and age. The specifications and the mileage remain pretty much the same and so do the other mechanicals. However, the recent facelift comes with a host of styling updates that do help make this micro-SUV look brawnier. This comparison here will help you spot all the differences between the two models.

With the introduction of the NXT facelift, the KUV100 gets quite a huge price cut. While prices of the earlier model started at Rs 5.03 lakh, the new model has a starting price of Rs 4.39 lakh. Even if you compare the top-end models, there’s a price difference of at least Rs. 68,000.

The Mahindra KUV100 has received a lot of flak for its rather ungainly appearance. Mahindra has tried to solve this issue with the facelift (NXT). The refreshed looks, which do end up making KUV a bit easier on the eye, should help this car find some more takers. It may be noted here that so far this car has been pretty much struggling on the sales charts. The NXT facelift carries the majority of updates at its front-end. Firstly, the bumper is new and looks sportier. Also, there’s a new housing for the foglamps. The biggest change is the new grille, which looks sportier and definitely more attractive. It also gets enough chrome to satisfy our bling-loving car buying lot. The side profile remains mostly the same, with the only apparent difference lying in the alloy wheels design. The rear-end also doesn’t get too many changes. However, the taillamps are new and have a twin-barrel motif.
The facelift has also changed the dimensions of the micro-SUV. The car is now 3,675 mm long, 1,715 mm wide (with side-cladding) and 1,655 mm tall (with roof rails). The Mahindra KUV100 NXT is 3,700 mm long, 1,735 mm wide and 1,655 mm tall.

The interior gets a major update in the form of a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The new infotainment not only brings in a couple of additional features but also makes the dashboard look more modern. Other than this, the top-end model gets an all-black colour theme, which, again, helps the car look sportier. The lower variants get a grey interior. There’s also a new seat upholstery to further make the cabin more premium. The KUV100 has been available in both 5-seater and 6-seater formates. The 6-seater version gets bench-like front seats, which can easily accommodate two adults and a kid. Also, thanks to the tall-boy architecture, the cabin feels sufficiently airy.
The new KUV100 NXT also gets other new features, which make the overall ownership experience more premium. These new features include electrically-adjustable ORVMs, remote lock/unlock for tailgate, rear parking sensors and drive modes.

There is absolutely no change in the specifications. This micro-SUV, even in its refreshed avatar, comes with a set of three-cylinder 1.2-litre Petrol and Diesel engines that come mated to 5-speed manual transmissions. Unlike what we speculated, there is still no option of an AMT. Also, Mahindra and Mahindra has found it only apt to leave the motors untouched. All this means is that there is absolutely no difference in the way this Mahindra model performs.
While the specifications remain the same, Mahindra has lowered the NVH levels to offer a more premium experience. Also, the company claims that the new NXT facelift model has higher approach and departure angles along with a longer suspension travel.

As the specifications remain the same, even the mileage doesn’t see any difference. As per ARAI figures, the KUV100’s Diesel model can offer up to 25.42 kmpl. The petrol model, on the other hand, can return up to 18.15 kmpl.
