Forthcoming Nissan Leaf SUV caught in brand’s shop window, ahead of expected reveal at the Tokyo Motor Show later this week

Nissan looks poised to reveal a surprise SUV concept at this week’s Tokyo Motor Show. The news comes thanks to Auto Express editor-at-large James Batchelor, who snapped the car in a shop window ahead of its big unveil.

Placed front and centre of the Japanese capital’s flagship Nissan store, the finishing touches are being applied to the previously unseen model. It suggests that the car’s full reveal could take place later this week at Japan’s largest motor show.

There’s no hiding the curved, coupe-like roofline of the new SUV concept, while a Leaf-style floating roofline could appear, too. Not much else can be depicted from the single image, though it’s possible to make out chunky looking wheelarches and one side of the Leaf-inspired four-sided grille.

Electrification is expected to be a major theme for Nissan at the show, with the new Leaf set to be joined by a hot Nismo version with Ford Focus RS rivalling performance. There’s a good chance the new SUV could use some form of electrification, too.

We’ll find out more about the crossover when the Tokyo Motor Show gets underway in the early hours of Wednesday morning. We’ll have a team of roving reporters at the show, too, ready to uncover all the latest industry news and gossip.
