2019 Honda City Likely to be a Lot More Stylish, Sleeker

Well, the Honda City is easily among the most trusted, even the most revered nameplates in its segment. The current City, which is the fourth-generation car in India, was first launched in 2013 and received a facelift last year. It’s being said that Honda will replace it with the fifth-generation model next year. The 2019 Honda City will be underpinned by an updated version of the current car’s platform. It will bring in many new features and possibly more efficient engines. It’s believed that the 2019 City will look a lot sleeker and more stylish. Seen here is an artistic impression of the new car.

It is likely that the new City will be more or less the same in terms of proportions. However, safely expect the company to optimize the cabin space using its Man Maximum, Machine Minimum philosophy. The rendering seen above shows that the new car will take design inspiration from the Honda Insight Prototype.

As per this rendering, the front-end of the 2019 City will feature a really big hexagonal grille that will get black horizontal slats. The gaping grille will be flanked by really sleek LED headlamps with LED DRLs. The bumper features a pair of LED foglamps with air vents below them. In side profile, the speculative rendering here shows a clean surface with fewer creases. The wing mirrors seem to have grown in size while the DLO seems to be unchanged in proportions. The alloys seem much like those on the current model.

As per the renderings, the rear will get sleek LED taillamps and a bootlid that is highly reminiscent of the Ingisht Prototype. On the inside, the dashboard will get a new Digipad touchscreen infotainment unit that will offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

2019 Honda City Specifications

The new-generation 2019 Honda City will be underpinned by a modified version of the current car’s platform. Honda might go on to offer a new version of the 1.5-litre iVTEC petrol engine. In its current state, the motor outputs a maximum power of 119 PS along with a peak torque of 145 Nm. The current Diesel motor, which has received a lot of flak for its high NVH and mediocre performance, is also likely to receive many updates. Currently, this oil burner outputs a maximum power of 100 PS along with a peak torque of 200 Nm. Honda Cars India will even launch a petrol-hybrid by 2020.
