Skoda has announced a revised Fabia hatchback is due to stand on the plinth at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March.

The current Fabia has been on sale unaltered since 2014 and is in need of a refresh so Skoda has put its designers to work. The teaser sketch used to announce the revised car's approaching arrival shows a slightly revised front end with slimmer LED headlights similar to those on the Karoq crossover.

Elsewhere it’s hard to tell the facelifted Fabia sketch apart from the current model. The same bonnet grooves and angles along the doors remain similar to the Fabia you can currently buy. Along with the hatchback, the Fabia estate model will also benefit from the new facelift tweaks.

The Czech manufacturer claims that its revised Mk3 Fabia will also have LED rear lights, in addition to ‘state-of-the-art’ technology. A Skoda spokesperson confirmed that the facelifted Fabia goes on sale later this year ahead of a planned 2019 model year arrival on the streets.

In terms of ‘state-of-the-art’ tech, the spokesperson from Skoda was unable to confirm any new features ahead of the revised Fabia’s Geneva unveil. It will probably incorporate a refreshed infotainment system and autonomous emergency braking that’s found on the facelifted Volkswagen Polo, which is built on the same VW Group A06 platform as the Fabia.

Engine-wise the new Fabia will likely incorporate revised versions of its current 1.0-litre turbocharged and naturally aspirated powertrains. The facelifted Polo’s 1.5-litre EcoTSI petrol engine may also feature in the Fabia’s engine range when it’s formally unveiled in Switzerland in two months time.
