The Geneva International Motor Show gets under way once again in March where the world’s major car manufacturers will descend on the Swiss city to showcase their latest production cars and concepts.
Given current industry trends it’s likely that the focus of the show will be very much centred around autonomous technology and electric vehicles. But Geneva is also a hotspot for performance cars. The exotic brands that give other international shows a miss tend to put the Geneva Motor Show in their diary as an opportunity to wheel out their exciting new metal.
The big reveals we’re expecting to see at Geneva this year include the new Audi A6, Kia’s Cee’d, the Mercedes A-Class, Toyota’s Supra and the Volkswagen Touareg but there’ll be a whole lot more new production cars and concepts when Geneva 2018 opens its doors.
This year the dates for the Geneva Motor Show are as follows. The show’s two press days are on March 6 and 7 before the doors open to the public between March 8 and 18 with tickets available now from the official website. The preview events where manufacturers treat the press to sneak peeks at their show stars will kick off on the evening of March 3 and as always The Auto Express team will be out in force bringing you the best coverage.

Audi
• Audi A6
Audi will debut its all-new fifth-generation A6 saloon at Geneva. Test mules of the BMW 5 Series rival have been spotted recently conducting winter development testing, sporting an A8-inspired front end and LED taillights. The A8-inspired appearance will likely continue to the interior, which will feature kit lifted from the flagship saloon.
Bentley
• Bentley Bentayga V8
• Bentley Bentayga PHEV
Having recently announced a V8 petrol Bentayga SUV, a rumoured plug-in hybrid Bentayga could be on its way to Geneva this March. A Bentayga PHEV had previously been spied by our photographers, which will likely feature hybrid technology from the Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid.
Jaguar
Jaguar will be launching the showroom model of its all-electric I-Pace at Geneva, having previously been showcased a concept at the 2016 LA Motor Show. Auto Express rode shotgun a pre-production I-Pace in Los Angeles in January, which featured a 90kWh battery and two electric motors that produced 395bhp and 700Nm of torque. The production model is expected to start at around £55,000.
Kia
Kia’s third-generation Cee’d will spawn a family of new variants. Spy shots from last year confirmed crossover and shooting brake models are in the works. The Korean manufacturer also confirmed that mild-hybrid tech will feature on its new hatchback.
Mercedes
We’ve already seen the A-Class’ slick new cabin but the covers will finally come off the car at Geneva. A new platform, more interior space and a plug-in hybrid powertrain are the headlines.
Morgan
• Morgan Aero GT
• Morgan Plus 8 50th Anniversary
A race-bred Aero GT will mark the end of the Aero 8’s 17-year production line. Alongside it, Morgan will also unveil a special 50th anniversary edition of its Plus 8; both models will be fitted with BMW’s 4.8-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine.
SEAT
Cupra will be launched as a stand-alone brand and the Ateca Cupra will be the first model to appear. It will be powered by a 300bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and feature four-wheel drive.
SsangYong
The fresh-faced Musso will bare a strong resemblance to the Rexton SUV it shares a platform with. A new suspension setup will be included, as part of the revisions, but the 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine will remain under the bonnet.
Toyota
For a number of years, speculation has been rife as to whether we’ll ever see the ‘Supra’ name reborn again. It looks like Toyota will finally put the speculation and eagerness to bed at this year’s Geneva Motor Show by unveiling the hugely anticipated Supra.. The Japanese marque could sell its new model under its hot Gazoo Racing badge when it goes on sale in 2019.
Volkswagen
The new third-generation Touareg will share underpinnings with the Audi Q7, while a pair of V8 diesel engines and plug-in hybrid powertrain will join the engine line-up.

What is the Geneva Motor Show?
The Geneva Motor Show is held annually at the Geneva Palexpo in Switzerland, and in terms of importance for the European, and possibly global, car industry is rivalled only by the Frankfurt Motor Show and Paris Motor Show - which are held biennially in alternate years. The Geneva show is a hotbed for European car launches, and is the stage for a clutch of the biggest new car unveilings each year. The event as a whole drew an audience of well over half a million people to come through the doors in 2016.

Planning a trip the Geneva Motor Show this year? Below is some of the key information you'll need to get a ticket, and get there at the right time.
Dates:
The Geneva Motor Show opens with two press days and this year they're on Tuesday 6 March and Wednesday 7 March. There are, however, a number of press preview events, where key cars will be revealed early, on the evening of Monday 5 March. After that, the show doors open to the public from Thursday 8 March and it's every car fan for him or her self. The final day of the 2017 Geneva Motor Show is Sunday 18 March.
Opening hours:
On weekdays days when the Geneva show is open to the public the show halls are open from 10am to 8pm. On weekend public days it's 9am to 7pm.
Location:
The giant Palexpo exhibition centre is the home of the Geneva Motor Show. The address is: Route François-Peyrot 30, 1218 Le Grand-Saconnex, but Palexpo is right next the Geneva Airport so it couldn't really be easier to find. The proximity to the airport means there are good train and bus links from elsewhere in Geneva and although the Palexpo car parks are reserved for exhibitors, driving is an option. Parking facilities are provide near the venue with and estimated 5,000 spaces during the week and 10,000 spaces on weekends to be found within a 5km radius of the venue. Just be prepared for some heavy traffic.
Tickets:
Geneva Motor Show 2017 tickets are available from the official website. The cost isn't unreasonable given how much there is to see, with adults charged 16 Swiss Francs (about £13). Pensioners, disabled people and children between 6 and 16 will only have to pay 9 Swiss Francs (around £7) and there's a 50% discount on any tickets bought after 4pm on the day of entry.
Hotels:
As you might imagine, Geneva is not short of hotels but they do fill up fast when the motor show is in town. It's a great event to combine with a bit of skiiing at one of the many Alpine ski resorts in the vicinity but there's also an official package that can get you a hotel room, free use of public transport and a ticket to the show from 64 Swiss Francs per person (about £48).
