The launch of the 2018 Harley Davidson Softail Deluxe and Softail Low Rider adds to the existing four models in the Softail range in India. All these cruisers are powered by the same 107 Milwaukee-Eight V-twin engine.
Harley Davidson has today launched the 2018 Softail Deluxe and the Softail Low Rider in India. The cost of the Softail Deluxe has slotted at INR 17.99 lakh while the Softail costs INR 12.99 Lakh. These prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. The American bike manufacturer also launched the Fat Boy Anniversary Edition in India. Called the Fat Boy 114, it gets the 114 Milwaukee-Eight engine. The Deluxe and Low Rider get the low capacity 107 Milwaukee-Eight V-twin engine.
The addition of the Softail Deluxe and Low Rider takes the Softail family in India up to six. Harley Davidson launched the Fat Boy, the Heritage Softail, the Fat Bob and Street Bob last year in our country. All these cruisers get the 107 Milwaukee-Eight V-twin engine. This engine gets four-valves per cylinder. It is a 1,745 cc engine producing 148 NM of peak torque.

The 107 Milwaukee-Eight V-twin engine uses a dual-counter balance to smoothen the functioning of the engine. The 114 Milwaukee-Eight engine, which powers the Fat Boy Anniversary Edition, is a 1,868 cc motor. It produces 161.3 NM of peak torque. According to Harley, this 114 engine can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, 9 percent faster than the smaller capacity 107 engine.
The new Fat Boy comes with classic Harley Davidson Softail design. It comes with LED headlamps, chunky tyres and solid-disk brakes. On the other hand, the Harley Davidson Softail Deluxe gets a considerable use of chrome. It also features wire-spoke wheels wrapped with whitewall tyres. The Softail Deluxe comes with shorter, swept-back handlebar and misses out on a windscreen. The Deluxe comes with a single seat, however, the pillion seat is available as an optional extra.

On the other hand, the styling of the Harley Davidson Softail Low Rider is neat. The cruiser comes with smooth flowing lines. The latest iteration of the Low Rider gets 2 into 2 shotgun exhaust. It replaces the earlier 2 into 1 Muffler. The cruise also comes with standard 16-inch alloy wheels and is offered with ABS as well. The new Low Rider has shed 14.5 kgs of weight. Its mid-steel tubular frame is stiffened by 34 percent. The cruiser gets new Monoshock suspension up-front, replacing the earlier twin-shock set-up.
