Menza Lucat Electric Bike Launched @ INR 2.8 Lakh

The Menza Lucat is a performance-oriented electric motorcycle that delivers a peak torque of 60 Nm. The pre-booking to start soon.

India start-up industry has been quite a success with several startups like Menza itself investing in green energy. Other great examples would be Twenty-Two motors and the Emflux. The latter is expected to launch India’s first electric superbike. Coming back to Menza Motors, their Lucat concept on display at the 2018 Auto Expo looks like a battery pack rudely shoved in place of the engine. Jokes apart, raw concepts do look a bit awkward and the production version will look much more refined. Want to know more about the Lucat concept, read along.

Menza Lucat Concept

The Menza Lucat concept showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo will carry a price tag of INR 2,79,999 upon launch later in 2018. The cafe racer design on the Lucat does appeal to some extent and the bodywork is simply mouthwatering. Since the Lucat is still in concept form, it will be too early to comment any further on the visuals of the electric bike. The Lucat promises a range of 100 km in city traffic and 150 km out on the highway. This is achieved with the use of a brushless DC motor coupled with a 72V lithium-ion battery pack. The battery features fast charging and can be fully charged in 90 minutes or less. If charged normally though, the battery would require 4 hours of continuous supply. The entire system features air-cooling system to keep the temperature in check.

Talking about performance on the upcoming Menza Lucat concept, peak power comes in at 18KW and 60Nm of peak torque. Normally you would be riding with 20 Nm of torque at your command. The motor’s revolution per minute has been limited to 3000 for safety reasons. The top speed achieved on the Lucat is around 121 kph. The lithium-ion battery pack holds a maximum capacity of 6 Kwh and is mated with smart BMS system for efficient power delivery and charging.

The cycle parts on the Menza Lucat include WP inverted forks at the front and a custom monoshock at the rear. The suspension travel at each end is allowed up to 150 mm. Stopping power comes from 300mm disc with a four-pot calliper at the front and 230 mm disc with a single-piston calliper at the rear. The bike features tubeless tyres shod on 17-inch wheels at each end with the front and rear tyre size installed being 110/70R17 and 150/60R17 respectively. With the electric bike weighing just 153 kg, the Lucat concept does look promising with the price being the only upsetting factor here. Considering 83% of the Lucat is manufactured locally, the price could have been better and we hope the Lucat benefits from the FAME scheme and offers its customers a handsome discount.

Stay tuned for more info on upcoming electric bikes.
