The premium hatchback from the South Korean automaker was recently spotted testing in India recently for the first time. The 2018 Hyundai i30 is the most premium hatchback by the automaker.
Hyundai Motors has been investing strongly in India with several new products in the lineup while the existing ones get timely updates. The All-new Santro, codenamed AH2, is expected to launch in August. Following soon will be the most loved compact SUV from the automaker, the Creta facelift due in second half of the year. Locked for a launch next year is the launch of the Hyundai Carlino concept SUV, codenamed QXi. Hyundai also plans to launch several electric vehicles in India, the first one of which will be the Kona electric slated for a launch next year. 2018 Hyundai i30 – Launch Date
The new 2018 Hyundai i30 has been spotted doing rounds in India. The test mule is completely undisguised and bears a red number plate. These are often signs of companies simply testing their products for parts and reliability as India offers a very versatile environment without the requirement to cross-border. Hyundai currently has no plans of launching the i30 in India as the Indian customers prefer compact SUVs in the segment as compared to premium hatchbacks.

2018 Hyundai i30 – Price in India
Hyundai showcased the i30 in India back at the 2016 Auto Expo. The latest model skipped the 2018 Auto Expo though. This clearly indicates that the premium hatchback will not launch in India. Hyundai did this with the unique three-door Veloster as well. The then premium hatchback was showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo and was on display in certain dealerships afterwards. The i30, if launched in India, would cost the equivalent of the Elantra, which is based on an extended platform of the i30.

The spy shots posted by our friends at Autocar India is the first time the 2018 Hyundai i30 has been spotted testing in the nation. The third-gen i30 spotted testing made its global debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. The hatchback bears a red number plate meaning its undergoing testing. As reported above, Hyundai has no plans to launch the i30 in India. India presents a very versatile and challenging environment. This is the main reason various automakers like Ford, Audi, Hyundai etc. test their global models here for reliability. Hyundai might also be testing new engines or updating the current in light of the upcoming government norms to shift to BS-VI in the year 2020.
