Volkswagen India has introduced a new 1.0-litre MPI petrol engine in the Polo hatchback. It will replace the existing 1.2-litre motor. Prices for the Volkswagen Polo remain the same.
Volkswagen India has just introduced a new petrol engine for its Polo premium hatchback. The petrol derivative of the Volkswagen will now come with a 1.0-litre MPI engine. This is a 3-cylinder engine, churning out 75 BHP along with 95 Nm peak torque. Volkswagen claims that this new, smaller capacity engine promises a mileage of 18.78 km/l. The new engine will replace the older 1.2-litre motor across all petrol variants.
On the other hand, the 1.2-litre MPI petrol engine was a 3-cylinder unit. This engine produces 74 BHP along with 110 NM of peak torque. The engine promised a mileage of 16.47 km/l. The Volkswagen Polo will continue to retail at the same price.

Currently, the base petrol variant of the Volkswagen Polo costs INR 5.42 Lakh. While the top of the line petrol variant of the Polo retails at INR 9.42 Lakh. The Volkswagen Polo will soon get a generation update. The 2018 Polo has already made its debut in the international markets.
