Nissan has teamed up with off-roading specialists Arctic Trucks to deliver a pumped up new Navara

Nissan has revealed a tougher, off-road ready version of its Navara pick-up truck at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, developed in tandem with Icelandic four-wheel-drive specialists Arctic Trucks.

It’s called the Navara Off-Roader AT32, and the newcomer to the Navara line-up arrives with serious new suspension kit. The bespoke system raises ride height by 20mm, and is joined by new full underbody protection and larger, knobbly off-road tyres.

With a ground clearance of 243mm, the maximum approach angle has increased too, to 35 degrees. The new 17-inch alloy wheels are shod with 32-inch tyres, large enough to run with reduced pressure for improved sand and ice driving. Overall, the vehicle is now 40mm taller.

A snorkel can now be equipped to the A-pillar, resulting in an increased wading depth of up to 800mm, while visually the AT32 gains tough looking black plastic wheel arch extensions.

Alongside the snorkel and suspension, one key mechanical revision will be the option of a locking front differential for additional traction on tricky surfaces. Hill start assist, hill descent control, automatic emergency braking and a top-down view 360-degree camera system will all be standard. Availability, plus full prices and specs will be revealed by Nissan at a later date.
