2018 Honda Jazz Facelift India Launch, Price, Features and Specifications: All You Need To Know

The 2018 Honda Jazz Facelift is likely to make its debut in India sometime during the festive season this year. The latest iteration model is already on sale in the international markets. It comes with restyled exterior profile and a few feature updates.

By the end of this year, we might see Honda Car India launch the facelifted version of the Jazz hatchback in India. The updated version of this car is already on sale in several international markets. It comes with a slightly altered exterior profile along with a minor update in its equipment list. For instance, it comes with redesigned bumpers, both front and back. And also, it gets Honda’s new Digipad 2.0 infotainment system. However, recently there were some speculations that Honda might altogether skip the launch of the facelift of this car in India. And instead directly launch the next-generation iteration of the Jazz sometime in the year 2019.

The biggest highlight of the Jazz facelift is the introduction of the new 1.5-Litre Petrol engine. For Europe, this engine outputs a max. power of 130 BHP and has a claimed fuel mileage of 18.52 KMPL. The new engine offers two transmission options- Six-speed Manual and CVT. This new engine will be offered only with the Sport and Dynamic trims. The India-spec model is expected to get a similar change in its specifications. You never know, Honda Cars India might decide to play the Santa and launch the Jazz with the City‘s 1.5-litre iVTEC to rival the likes of Maruti Baleno RS, Volkswagen Polo GT TSI, and Fiat Abarth Punto.

As you can see, the new 2018 Honda Jazz facelift doesn’t look too different from the pre-facelift model. However, the few changes made to the exterior are enough to freshen up the things a fair bit. It is now more in line with the design of the current crop of Honda cars. It gets a new grille, a set of new headlamps with LED DRL, updated bumpers, and a new exterior colour option that is being marketed as the Skyride Blue.

2018 Honda Jazz Facelift Launch Date in India

Launch Date (expected) Second Half 2018

Honda will first launch the Jazz facelift in the European markets. Subsequently, the updated Jazz will also launch in India. However, it will be first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo in Delhi NCR early next year. We’re expecting the 2018 Honda Jazz facelift launch to take place soon after the advent of next year.

2018 Honda Jazz Facelift Price In India

Petrol Model (estimated prices) Rs 6 Lakh – Rs 9.5 Lakh
Diesel Model (estimated prices) Rs 7 Lakh – Rs 10 Lakh

Going by the prices of the 2017 Honda City Facelift, it’s pretty much for sure that even the updated Jazz will be slightly pricier than the current model. We are expecting the price range to start at Rs 6 lakh. Like we said, Honda might decide to plonk the 1.5-litre iVTEC into the engine bay of the Jazz to rival cars like the Baleno RS. This hot hatch version could cost upwards of Rs 9 lakh. On the other hand, the Diesel model could have a starting price of Rs 7 lakh. Honda will try to justify the price increase by offering a long list of features and fresher styling.

2018 Honda Jazz Facelift Specifications

Engine 1.2-litre Petrol/1.5-litre Petrol/1.5-litre Turbo Diesel
Max. Power 87 BHP/118 BHP/99 BHP
Peak Torque 110 Nm/145 Nm/200 Nm
Transmission 5-speed Manual, CVT/6-speed Manual, CVT/6-speed Manual

Going by the Europe-spec Jazz facelift, India will get the City’s 1.5-litre iVTEC petrol engine. We are pretty sure this engine option will be available only on the top-end trim. Nothing’s for sure at the moment. The 2018 facelift could also get a new 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that Honda plans to launch in Japan. However, what we know for sure is that the more powerful variant would be marketed as a hot hatch to rival the likes of Maruti Baleno RS, Volkswagen Polo GT TSI, and Fiat Punto Abarth. Other than this, the current engine options will be carried over to the new facelift without any major change in their specifications. At best, the current motors will be re-tuned to offer a slightly higher mileage.

2018 Honda Jazz Facelift Mileage

1.2 L Petrol 1.5 L Petrol 1.5 L Diesel
18.7 KMPL (MT); 19 KMPL (CVT) 18.52 KMPL 27.3 KMPL

Mileage figures should be more or less the same. Like we said, we don’t see Honda making any change in the specifications of the current motors. Hence, their fuel mileage shouldn’t see a notable difference either. The new 1.5-Litre Petrol engine, which is surely going to launch in Europe, has a claimed mileage of 18.52 KMPL.

2018 Honda Jazz Facelift Review – Exterior Design

The Jazz doesn’t get a huge makeover to speak of. However, the mid-cycle facelift brings in a handful of new bits to freshen up the car a fair bit. If nothing else, the car is now more in line with the design of the current crop of Honda cars. The 2018 Jazz carries the manufacturer’s new ‘Exciting H Design’ theme, which we have already seen on the India-spec 2017 Honda City. Exactly like the latest iteration of the City sedan, the Jazz gets a Solid Wing Face front grille.

Moreover, the car also gets a set of new headlamps that are not only sleeker in their profile but also carry LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRL). The car comes with a new set of fog-lamps and updated bumpers. All these new bits come together to make the car look more modern than the pre-facelift version. In the side profile, the car gets a more stylish set of alloy wheels. The rear-end of the car gets updated taillights and a new roof spoiler. The new bumpers look sportier than before. The top-end trims are likely to get black ORVM caps and black inserts in the bumper for that touch of sportiness.

2018 Honda Jazz Facelift Interior

Coming to the interior of the new Honda Jazz 2018 facelift, the cabin remains largely the same. The India-spec model, however, is expected to get an upholstery change and a set of new features. That said, we don’t see bits like an auto-dimming Interior Rear View Mirror in the pictures here. But we’re hoping that in India, the top trim will get the Digipad touchscreen unit that is even available in the new City. This is a modern infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. The unit offers a 7-inch touchscreen interface and also offers Sat-nav and Telephony options. You even get a WiFi support along with a 1.5 GB internal storage.
