Country’s leading automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is soon going to introduce an MPV derivative of the Wagon R hatchback for India. This 7-seater version is going to be compact in its dimensions and consequently sit below the Ertiga in the automaker’s model line-up. The Maruti Wagon R 7-seater is going to be based on the next-generation Wagon R. The latter is expected to launch in India by the festive season this year. The MPV version is speculated to go into production by the end of this year. Consequently, it is likely that it will make its debut in India early next year. This budget MPV is likely to get Suzuki’s lighweight HEARTECT platform. However, it will share its engine specifications with the hatchback. Hence, it will only come with a petrol engine. however, Maruti could offer factory fitted CNG kits as well. Prices are likely to fall in the range of INR 4.5 lakh to 6.5 lakhs.

Maruti Wagon R 7-Seater Launch Date
As mentioned before, we believe that the production of the 7-seater Wagon R will commence from the month of September this year. Going by recent media speculations, expect the car to launch on Indian soil by the end of this year itself. Furthermore, there have been a number of instances where the Suzuki Solio, the Wagon R based 7-seater MPV, was seen testing on India roads. Consequently indicating towards the launch in the near future. That said, Maruti will first of all launch the next-generation iteration of the Wagon R hatchback. Currently, there are no concrete details regarding the engine specifications of the Wagon R 7-seater. However, we can safely speculate that this car will get the same engines as its 5-seater sibling. Hence, it will come only with a petrol engine at its disposal. This unit is going to be a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder motor which produces 65 BHP along with 91 Nm of peak torque. The car will get a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. Maruti can also introduce the 5-speed AMT unit as well.
