Mercedes has revealed a new trim level for the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé. The Edition 1 will be available to order for 12 months from the Porsche Panamera rival’s September 2018 release date.
Based upon the GT 63 S, the changes on the outside include a deeper front splitter with extra flicks in the front apron, a more aggressive rear diffuser and a fixed rear spoiler with an adjustable wing element. Not only do the tweaks marginally increase downforce - compared to the regular model’s adjustable spoiler, the rear wing adds an extra 30kg over the rear axle at 186mph - but overall drag has decreased slightly, too.

The exterior is available in one of three paint finishes: graphite grey magno, diamond white bright and graphite grey metallic, while matt grey racing stripes are applied just above the door sills and optionally across the bonnet, roof and tailgate. The exterior look is rounded off with a set of 21-inch forged alloy wheels.
Inside, the seats are trimmed in a mix of leather and Mercedes’ DINAMICA material, and the steering wheel is finished in the same suede-effect trim. It also gets a contrasting yellow 12 o’clock marking, and the stitching and seatbelts are finished in the same shade.
The engine is identical to that in the regular GT 63 S 4‑Door Coupé. That means that the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 sends its 630bhp to all four wheels, resulting in a 0-62mph time of 3.2 seconds and a 196mph top speed.
