BMW looks poised to pack more power into the latest M5, according to information and images leaked on the Bimmerpost forum.
In a post on the site’s message boards, a leaker claims that BMW is on the verge of releasing a Competition Package for its Mercedes-AMG 63 S rival, publishing specifications for the hardcore supersaloon and even producing an image of the alleged M5 Competition.

According to the leak, BMW has turned up the wick on the M5’s 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 by 25bhp, taking total power up to an E 63 S beating 617bhp. With that additional punch, the M5’s 0-62mph time is slashed by a tenth of a second to just 3.3 seconds. The leaker has posted a 0-124mph time too, claiming that BMW’s flagship M5 will crack the sprint in 10.3 seconds. Buyers will also be offered an optional top speed package, removing the 155mph electronic muzzle to enable 190mph flat out.
Alongside the extra power and performance, the M5 Competition will gain a bespoke Competition exhaust system, unlocking more bark from the turbocharged V8. The suspension set-up has been revised too. According to the leaker, the Competition rides lower, with firmer damping when the car is flicked into its racier driving modes.
From a design standpoint, Competition cars will be marked out with black badging, black front and side grilles, plus a new lip spoiler on the bootlid and a blacked out rear diffuser.
