The British giant, Triumph Motorcycles has launched the adventure-tourer, Triumph Tiger 1200 in India. Earlier known as Explore, Tiger 1200 is the most powerful and technology savvy bike in the entire Triumph Tiger range. The mean machine gets over 100 updates since the last Tiger was launched and is priced at Rs 17 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
Triumph Tiger 1200 takes the title of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ altogether. Styled in an elegant yet sporty way, the adventure-tourer is just a delight to see. Tiger 1200 is launched in India starting from Rs 17 Lakhs and Triumph claims that the bike is the most powerful bike in Tiger bike range. Tiger 1200 sports a 1215 CC engine that produces 139 BHP worth of power and 122 Nm worth of torque. The bike is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with bi-directional quickshifters. However, in terms of styling, it is not much different from its predecessor. It mainly gets LED DRLs and a LED headlight in the newer version.

Also, Triumph Tiger 1200 is the most technologically savvy bike in the Tiger range. It gets a new 5.0 Inch TFT display, backlit switchgear, ABS, traction control, Hill-hold assist, ride-by-wire throttle and 5 riding modes with a joystick-like selection system. The 5 riding modes include – Off-Road Pro, Road, Rain, Off-Road and Sport. Other features include electrically adjustable windscreen, optional heated grips and seats, adaptive cornering lights, cruise control, keyless ignition and 12V power outlets.

On the front tire, Triumph Tiger 1200 gets 48 mm upside down forks and are electronically adjustable. On the rear side, it gets a WP monoshock. In front, it gets double 305 mm Brembo disc brakes and in the rear, it gets a single 282 mm Nissin disc. Also, the saddle height of the bike is manually adjustable. The bike comes with a saddle height of 855 mm, which can be reduced by 20 mm. The Triumph Tiger 1200 is 11 kgs lighter than the previous model.

The bike is offered in three paint shades – white, black and military green. Globally, the bike is available in 6 variants. However, in India, only 1 variant – XCx – is going to come. Triumph Tiger 1200 competes with Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro, BMW R 1200 GS and the upcoming Ducati Multistrada 1260. Currently, the cheapest adventure-tourer bike in India is the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The Himalayan comes in two variants – Standard and Sleet – and are priced between Rs 1.56 Lakhs to Rs 1.72 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
