Recent media reports suggest that Bajaj is now targetting at developing the premium deluxe motorcycles. It will not focus mainly on the 125cc segment, which is growing at an increasing pace. At the same time, it is also catering to Pulsar’s growing need. Could this mean that there is a possibility of Bajaj Pulsar 125?
India is such an economy where the concept of lifestyle and exotic bikes is developing slowly. Majority of Indians still prefer a commuter friendly bike that looks good and is in the average budget. Specifically, the 125cc is the most emerging bike segment in the country. While, Honda, Suzuki, Hero, Yamaha and others have their bikes in this range. According to the recent media reports, Bajaj Auto seems to be focussing on expanding its domestic range in the passenger bikes segment. At the same time, the demand for Pulsar range is every increasing, thanks to their grunty yet frugal engines. Bajaj is also focussing on the Pulsar range, owing to its demand. Summing these reports, we have concluded a possibility of Bajaj Pulsar 125 being launched in near future. In such case, it can turn out to be a hit as well as can be a flop show.

Currently, the 125cc segment is dominated by Honda Shine and Hero Super Splendor. While Bajaj only has the Discover 125 in that segment, it is not much of a hit. Also, in the 125cc-150cc segment it has Discover and Bajaj V. Both of them are average players. However, the discover earlier was a huge hit. Discover gets decent features, despite which it has not run successfully in the market. The Bajaj V is a 150cc commuter friendly bike, but that too is a flop show. Certainly, the Bajaj Pulsar 125 could help here.
The Pulsar 125 would get a 124.6cc DTS-i triple-spark engine that produces around 13 BHP worth of power and 10 Nm worth of torque. It will take underpinnings from the 135 LS and will copy some design elements from 135 LS too. It will get the basic features that are provided for an average 125cc scooter segment. Of course, there is the economical and long-running Bajaj engine.

Bajaj’s lineup includes the Pulsar range, Avenger, Dominar, entry-level bikes and also KTM. All of these models have a good share of the market. Pulsar is quite in demand, Avenger is a popular cruiser and KTM is definitely a win-win amongst the youth. Basically, it has a good share in the sports bike segment but fails miserably in the commuter bikes segment. Owing to all of these situations, we expect the Bajaj Pulsar 125 to launch.
However, the bike has to be made perfect and appealing, as the LS 135 was also not much in demand. Despite it being placed in the emerging 125cc-150cc segment, the LS 135 had problems. Also, Discover had a 135cc and 150cc variant, which was also discontinued in the between. Taking all these things in mind, still, the Bajaj Pulsar 125 might launch.
