The much-awaited update of the flagship tourer, Ducati Multistrada 1260 And 1260 S have been launched in India. 1260 is launched for Rs 15.99 Lakhs and the 1260 S is launched for Rs 18.06 Lakhs (ex-showroom Pan India). The new upgrades list includes the new 1262 cc engine, new chassis and updated electronics.
Touring bikes are a rarity in India. With limited ones in this segment, it includes the famous Ducati bikes, Royal Enfield, KTM and others. In this segment, the latest one to get a facelift is the Ducati Multistrada 1260 and 1260 S. The adventure tourers are launched in India. 1260 comes for Rs 15.99 Lakhs and the 1260 S comes for Rs 18.06 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The prices are a little higher than the last generation of the bike. The updates include a new Testastretta DVT 1262cc engine, new chassis framework and updated electronics on the bike. The bookings are open and the bikes are scheduled for their delivery process starting from the end of June 2018. Being one of the most premium bikes in India, it faces no such direct competition. The bike features a 1262cc Testastretta DVT engine, which is the newly developed engine. The engine is recalibrated for proper low-to-mid range torque delivery, which produces around 158 BHP @ 9750 RPM worth of horsepower and around 129 Nm worth of torque @ 7500 RPM. The Desmodromic Variable Timing feature produces maximum torque output at 4000 RPM and up to 85% at 3500 RPM. It uses the new ‘Ride-by-wire’ system by the Ducati Quick Shift Up And Down transmission. It gets an updated chassis with a longer wheelbase and revised up front as the main cosmetic designs on the body.

The features of the bike include a full LED headlight with cornering lights, Bluetooth module with Ducati Multimedia System for receiving incoming calls, text messages, or playing music via the handlebar controls and signature spoke wheels. In terms of electronics for better riding, it gets Vehicle Hold Control, Bosch Cornering ABS, Traction control, wheelie control, cruise control and a new Hands-free system for better security.

In terms of design, it gets a beak shaped cowl in the front on which the tall windscreen sits atop. The cowl houses dual LED headlamps. In the front, it gets dual disc brakes. Barring the fuel tank, rest of the body of the bike is naked, which looks sporty enough. On the side, there are dual exhaust mufflers. In the rear, there is a hugger fender on the single-disc brake tyre. It offers a step up seat, but with a considerable lower stance.
