The Ford Endeavour first came out in the late 2000s. The first generation was a rugged MPV. As the generations changed, it graduated from an MPV to a full-grown off-roader SUV. Currently, the latest generation has been launched in Australia under the name of Ford Everest. The Everest gets some minor cosmetic tweaks, new features and an important new 2.0 Litre diesel engine. This variant might launch as the 2018 Ford Endeavour in India. Most of the upgrades are likely to be carried forward in the Indian version. It gets a new 2.0 Litre TDCi Bi-Turbo Engine, which will come in its lower variants. The Everest also gets a new 10-speed automatic transmission. Other expected features include Autonomous Braking system, Smart Door handles, and Front Parking assist. Expect the SUV to be priced around Rs 1 Lakh more than the current price, which starts from Rs 26.17 Lakhs.

The SUV has been spied many times in its full final production form. It is expected to launch globally anytime between mid-year 2018 and end of the year. Following the global launch, India will get the 2018 Ford Endeavour 2-3 months after the launch of Everest.

Currently, Ford Endeavour is available in three variants starting from Rs 26.14 Lakh (ex-showroom). With a massive engine upgrade, it is expected to start from Rs 27 Lakh (ex-showroom). The price difference would be not much, but the top end variant would cost more than the current top-end variant. Ford Endeavour’s top-end variant reaches Rs 29.46 Lakh (ex-showroom) which might increase by Rs 1 lakh.

Ford Everest gets the biggest upgrade in the guise of a new engine. Ford Everest will get a new 2.0 Litre TDCi Bi-Turbo Engine which produces 213 PS power and 500 Nm Torque. The current Ford Everest is available with two diesel engines. One is the 2.2L TDCi that produces 150 PS power and 375 Nm torque. The other engine is the 3.2L TDCi five-cylinder diesel engine that develops 200 PS power and 470 Nm torque. Everest will now come with 4 diesel variants.

Spy images suggest that Ford Everest’s gets new colour-matched bumpers and chromed mirror caps with large 20-inch wheels. However, there are only some minor changes that also include an updated bumper shape too. It is rumoured that Ford Everest might get new colour options too.

The details of the interiors have not been leaked yet, but it will come with the high-end equipment. The SUV is rumoured to get a single colour interior tone with leather upholstery. Ford will offer the facelifted model with an audio system and the SYNC 3 infotainment system depending on the grade. The cabin space would not change mostly, but it would become more comfortable. Other interior features include start-stop button and an auto-stop button for driving comfort. It is also rumoured to come with a fully digital instrument cluster.

The SUV will also get some minor tweaks, but for the better convenience of the driver. It will get a passive keyless entry which will come equipped with the door handles. For opening the door, you have to put your hand behind the door handle as the sensors would automatically detect it. The front sensor on the handle will be used for locking the door. Another good feature is the Automatic Start-Stop system, which turns off the engine at traffic lights and can be turned on by pressing the clutch. Other features include push-button start and a 10-speed automatic gearbox.

Currently, the SUV faces competition from Toyota Fortuner and Volkswagen Tiguan. Being an off-roader modern SUV, it gets all the electricals to save itself from a slushy spot. Its other competitors also get the same features and are priced similarly. This segment is a steady one, with most of the buyers going towards Fortuner because of the brand name and better performance in the market. However, Endeavour has its own set of followers, who also liked the previous Endy and would not hesitate to the buy the latest generation. Ford Cars are mostly famous for their much powerful engines with immense torque capabilities.
