Ford India has issued a statement regarding some issues in the Ecosport. It has voluntarily asked for inspection of around 4,379 units of Ecosport that were manufactured from their Chennai plant between May 2017 to June 2017. Ford has detected a problem in the weld integrity of the front lower control arm of the SUV. The weld strength on some of these vehicles may be below Ford specifications, which in rare cases, can potentially affect steering control. The company is also writing to owners of 1,018 EcoSport vehicles, made between November 2017 and December 2017, to inspect their cars for driver and front passenger seat recliner locks. The passenger seat recliner locks include the latest facelift versions.
Earlier also, Ecosport was recalled two times. For the first time around 48,00 units were recalled for installing a new bundle clip on the fuel and brake lines. In the second recall, around 700 units were called for fitting the 60:40 rear folding seat. The SUV was first launched in 2012 and since then it has been one of the preferred sub-compact SUVs. It received its last facelift in 2017, which got all the premium features and technology in this SUV. It currently competes with Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Honda W-RV.
The latest addition to the Ford Ecosport family is the S and Signature Editions. In these variants, Ford’s signature 1.0 Litre Ecoboost Petrol engine has made a comeback. The features of Signature include black-fog lamp bezel, all-around graphics, rear spoilers, 17-inch diamond cut alloy and roof rails on the exteriors. In the interior, it gets a sunroof, Ebony black interior with blue accents, centre console and a new instrument panel. The S variant it gets a blacked-out grille, black painted roof & roof rails, 17-inch smoke alloys and darkened HID headlamps. Other features include a new sunroof, orange accents on the seats and a new 8-inch SYNC3 car connectivity system. It also gets a changed instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch display with Tyre Pressure monitor. The Signature continues with the 1.5 Litre Dragon Petrol and 1.5 Litre TDCi engine. The S Edition gets the Ecoboost Engine with the diesel.
