Suzuki Gixxer recently got an update with added ABS. Reports reveal that the naked bike will get a major update in 2019, with a new Gixxer 250 variant. The new updates such as full-LED headlamps, a TFT instrument cluster display, and possibly split-seats as well. Read ahead to get more details on both the news.
Suzuki Motorcycles has a small lineup in India and the most powerful affordable are the 150cc Gixxer, SF and Intruder. Earlier, there was the Inazuma 250cc naked street bike. But, the prices for Inazuma were very high and that time was not much accepted in our market. Still, there is a need felt for a more powerful bike. Recent reports suggest that a 250cc bike under the Gixxer family would launch next year. Also, the 150cc version might receive a major facelift next year. In the recent facelift, it got an optional ABS feature. The next big update might give us full-LED headlamps, Suzuki Easy Start System, a TFT instrument cluster display, and possibly split-seats as well. Also, reports say that the riding position of the bike may also be altered. For Suzuki, this might be a very good boost in the Indian markets.

The Gixxer 250 might be a possibility. Gixxer has a very good share of the market and is known for good performance and decent mileage. While there is the GSX series in India, but they are too premium for a normal buyer. So, an affordable 250cc Gixxer is needed. The engine powering this new bike will be a 250cc oil-cooled engine. Exact details are not known yet, but we can expect the power to be around 25 BHP. Currently, only the CBR and FZ25 are 250cc bikes in India. You can expect the 250cc version to be priced around Rs 1.3 Lakhs (ex-showroom) given to the competition it faces.

Coming to the other news, the Gixxer is yet again going to get an update. If it gets full-LED headlamps, split seats and all those features, it might be priced a little bit higher than the current price. The current Gixxer gets a 154.9 cc, air-cooled engine that churns out 14.5 bhp of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The motorcycle features a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres with a kerb weight of 136 kg. Features of the bike include a Digital Speedo Console, Engine Kill Switch, Front and Rear Disc Brake and ABS.
