Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 India Launch- 5 Must Facts You Must Know

Recently, Bajaj has confirmed about the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 India Launch. Now, it has been spotted testing on Indian roads with parts borrowed from KTM. The Swedish originated bike will have a neo-scrambler design, placed even above the KTM series. There will be two bikes, which are expected to launch in 2019. 

We had earlier reported that Bajaj had confirmed about the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 India launch. Recent images by Gaadiwaadi shows us a camouflaged Svartpilen 401 testing in India. From the photos, we can say that it is just a prototype version. The Swedish bike was spotted testing with KTM tyres and its engine. The engine had KTM inscribed on it. It is in the earlier stages of testing other components of the bike. The Svartpilen 401 sports a naked neo-scrambler type body with a minimalistic fairing. Along with Svartpilen, the Vitpilen 401 will also launch in India. The latter bike sports little shades of a cafe-racer. Here we list the 5 facts that you must know about the Svartpilen 401.

1. Design

Yes, the design looks fresh but weird, right? A similar type of design is seen on the Ducati Scrambler. The Svartpilen 401 gets a neo-scrambler design with the minimum body covering. Basically, it somewhat looks like a cafe racer but is more advanced than that. In the front, are the round headlamps and its speedometer infused on the handlebar. It gets the spoke alloy wheels guarded by double disc brakes. Most part of the bike remains naked with a cradle frame running from the handlebar to the suspension. At the rear, it gets no side holding rails and just gets an integrated brake light system.

2. Engine

For the engine purposes, the Svartpilen 401 gets KTM’s 373cc single cylinder liquid cooled engine. This engine produces around 40 BHP of power and 37 Nm of torq. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. The estimated mileage of the bike is around 25 KMPL. The one which was spied was also using KTM’s engine with the Austrian brand’s inscription on it.

3. Launch Date

The Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 India launch is speculated to be in 2019. If the prototype was just spotted testing, then it would easily take some time for building the production-ready body. Globally, it is available and is waiting for the India launch. We can expect this bike by around second half of 2019.

4. Price

This bike will the top one from Bajaj. It will be placed above the KTM series and also above the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure. At this given details, we expect it to be priced around Rs 3 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The main idea of an Indian partner for foreign brands is of the cost reduction by localization of parts. If the bike is priced around Rs 3 Lakhs, then it is a good buy.

5. Competition

This bike would launch as an entry-level premium bike. At the expected price range, it will compete with BMW G 310 R, KTM 390 Adventure, Bajaj Dominar 400 and for a little more, Yamaha R3. This segment is rising slowly with some new affordable premium bikes launched. However, this price range still falls out of the Average budget of an Indian customer.
