If you see, the youth of India is a major decider for the popular bikes. While they prefer sporty bikes under Rs 2 Lakhs, we take one of their choices. The KTM Duke 250 is one of the finest track-ready material under Rs 2 Lakhs. It copies most of its elements from the Duke 390 and 200. The design comes from the elder one while the brakes and fuel system from the younger one. It gets a 248cc water cooled engine that produces an aggressive engine sound that attracts more people. The features of the bike include fully digital speedometer, new split seats, front and rear disc brakes, slipper clutch, halogen headlamps and LED DRLs. It records a maximum speed of 142 km/hr. Keeping in mind the price of the Duke 390, the Duke 250 makes a lot of sense for those not satisfied with the performance of the Duke 200. The naked street bike finds itself locking horns with the likes of DSK Mahindra Mojo and Bajaj Dominar 400.

Duke 250 costs Rs 29500 more than the Duke 200. It is priced at Rs. 1.73 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Duke 390 is priced at Rs. 2.26 lakh while the 200 costs Rs. 1.44 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
2018 KTM Duke 250 Design
The KTM Duke 250 borrows plenty of design cues from the Duke 390. It gets a similarly aggressive headlamp. The headlamp for Duke 250, however, doesn’t get a split headlamp setup. Also, it misses out on LED fixtures and instead comes with a halogen bulb. Duke 250 comes with sharp tank panels and a sleek tail. The new generation Dukes look a lot more modern, and this one impresses like the other two low displacements Duke models. Unlike the Duke 390, the 250 doesn’t come with a TFT speedo console. However, it does get a new LCD unit.

The KTM Duke 250 features a 248.8cc, water-cooled, single-cylinder engine. This motor outputs a max. power of 31 BHP at 9,000 RPM and a peak torque of 24 Nm at 7,250 rpm. The engine boasts a DOHC layout and ultra hard, carbon-coated cam followers. Duke 250 has been built around a lightweight tubular trellis frame. Transmission duties are performed by a 6-speed manual gearbox that comes with a slipper clutch. The bike does not get ABS, which a lot of underpriced bikes also feature nowadays.

These bikes range under Rs 2 lakhs and have good engines with decent features offerings. The Mojo and Dominar are somewhat cruisers, but similar pricing brings them into this competition. As both of them are power cruisers, they are basically cruiser-cum-sports bike. The FZ 25 boasts of the similar specs, but it is priced quite cheap by nearly Rs 55,000. FZ boats of Yamaha’s acceleration and good riding quality. The main competition comes from DSK Benelli TNT, which is a 250cc naked bike. It is priced similar too, but the brand is not as famous as KTM in India.
