The Maruti Ciaz is soon going to launch in India with its mid-life update. The facelifted version is going to get some cosmetic updates along with a new petrol engine. Prices are likely to remain the same.
Either by this month end or early next month, we are expecting Maruti Suzuki to launch the updated version of the Ciaz sedan in the Indian market. Recent developments suggest that the 2018 iteration of this mid-size executive sedan is going to come with a number of cosmetic updates. In addition to this, we also expect the car to feature a few additions in-terms of its feature list as well. For instance, in order to compete with the rivals, it could come with a sun-roof and electric driver seats. All that said, the biggest update from the previous version is going to be the introduction of a new petrol engine.

According to unconfirmed media reports, it is likely that the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will launch in India this July. Going by that bookings will commence from the month before that. The latest iteration of this sedan will continue to retail from Maruti Nexa dealerships. It switched from the Arena to Nexa dealership chain last year.

As mentioned before, this mid-size executive sedan is going to come with a new petrol engine. This is Suzuki 1.5-litre K15B unit. It will replace the current iteration’s 1.4-litre engine. The K15B is capable of producing 104 BHP of power along with 138 Nm of peak torque. It gets a 5-speed manual transmission along with the option of an automatic gearbox as well. Currently, the diesel derivative of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz comes with a 1.3-litre DDiS unit. This engine produces 88.5 BHP along with 200 Nm of peak torque. Time and again this engine is criticised for its lack of power.
As a result of this, Maruti is likely to introduce a more powerful 1.5-litre diesel engine which it is developing in-house. Speculations are on the rise stating that Maruti could use a new 1.5-litre petrol engine as well. This new motor will offer a slight increase in power and torque outputs. This motor produces 104 BHP of power along with 138 Nm of peak torque. It will continue to come with Suzuki’s mild-hybrid SHVS technology. However, for the first time, this tech will make its way to the petrol derivatives as well.

Headlights will remain similar in shape but could get new details. The side profile will remain identical. However, the sedan can get new alloy wheels. Towards the rear, the tail-lamps will get new design elements. However, the boot-lid design will largely remain the same.

Maruti might add certain wood or silver accents to add to the visual appeal. The seat fabric could see a new design. Rest, all the major attributed will remain the same.
