This Sedan will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Karnataka. The automaker plans on deploying high percentage of localized parts to keep the price in check. The base variant of the Toyota Yaris retails at a price of INR 8.75 lakh. While the top of the line automatic variant goes for INR 14.07 lakh.

Powering the 2018 Toyota Yaris is the 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. The 1.5-litre unit powering this car produces 108 bhp of power and 137 Nm of torque. This engine is a recent introduction. Earlier, the sedan had a 1.3-litre engine at its disposal. On offer will be a 6-speed manual transmission along with a 7-step CVT unit.

The 1.5-litre petrol engine in this car is expected to give a mileage of 15 to 17 km/l. Toyota is playing safe by introducing only a petrol engine. In addition to this, the automaker believes that majority of the buyers in this segment opt for a petrol car rather than a diesel one.

Comparing the 2018 Toyota Yaris to its competitors, the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Ciaz The City extends to 4,440mm, Ciaz features a length of 4,490 mm and the Verna gets 4,370 mm. It holds a length of 4,425 which is clearly shorter than most of its rivals. When it comes to the wheelbase, the City features 2,600 mm, Ciaz gets 2,650 and the Verna gets 2,570. The Yaris features a wheelbase of 2,550 mm which is the shortest in the segment. While the Verna is shorter in length, it surprisingly offers better wheelbase than the Toyota. In terms of width though, it is neck to neck with its rivals holding a width of 1,730 mm, similar to that of the Ciaz.

From the outside, the 2018 Yaris looks very premium and mature. It has Toyota’s traditional styling. From the front, you can see that the sedan’s design is somewhat inspired from its elder sibling, the Corolla Altis. The sleek headlamps and the large grille provide this car with a very appealing look. The side profile of this sedan is very curvaceous. Unlike its competitors, the City and Ciaz, it looks somewhat neat and simple. Towards the rear, the sedan gets elongated tail-lamps. The boot lid comes with simple styling.
