The Italian giant Ducati might tie up with Hero Motocorp with a new 300cc bike in India. Earlier, there were rumours about Hero buying out Ducati, which were false. This comes after the launch of BMW and Ninja 300cc bikes. Check out the details here.
Most of the foreign automobile companies tie up with Indian brands to launch their products in India. Some major examples of these type of tie-ups include Mahindra-Ssangyong, upcoming Maruti Suzuki-Toyota and in the bike world, there is BMW Motorrad-TVS, Bajaj-KTM and Bajaj-Triumph. India currently is a fast-growing market with a huge demand for the commuter as well as premium bikes. If you see, most of the bikes under Rs 3 Lakh are sold the most. So, accordingly, Bajaj launched all the KTM bikes under Rs 2.5 Lakhs, which are quite successful here. Recently, it has also tied up with Husqvarna and Triumph for entry-level premium bikes. TVS also has a long-term partnership with BMW Motorrad for affordable premium motorcycles and their first venture was the BMW G 310 twins. Now, Ducati is also teaming up with Hero Motocorp to launch an affordable 300cc bike in India. Read to know more.

Currently, Hero is the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer. Also, it is the only one left to tie up with an international brand. So, it is almost confirmed that the Italian brand is going to tie-up with Hero Motocorp. Together, they will first launch a new 300cc single-cylinder motorcycle, reports Bikewale.
The 300cc bike will be the entry-level premium motorcycle, just like the G310 twins. There are some further rumours stating that Ducati might launch two 300cc bikes in India, a Mini-Scrambler and a Mini-Multistrada type bikes. It will use a fuel-injected single cylinder engine, which will be mainly developed by Ducati. In India, Hero will produce and manufacture the engines.

Currently, there are not many details about the partnership. Ducati could use Hero’s distribution channel and have same showrooms largely. The same-showroom concept is mainly for smaller cities. However, the metro cities would have the earlier concept along with exclusive showrooms. This tie-up and setup are similar to TVS-BMW Motorrad, but both the brands use their different distribution channels.

Overall, this setup can prove better for both the brands. Currently, Hero only has 2 bikes in the premium motorcycle segment – Karizma ZMR and the Hero Xtreme 200R. Hero mainly thrives on the 100-125cc bikes. On the other hand, it will prove a good thing for Ducati as well. The KTM Series and the G310 twins are much popular in India. So, even the Italian brand can be successful at a similar price tag.
