Here Is why the New Hyundai Santro could be a nightmare for its competitors

The 2018 Hyundai Santro or the automaker new small car is all set to launch in India this October. Its primary competition is going to be with the next-generation Maruti WagonR which is likely to debut around the same time.

In October this year, Hyundai is going to introduce an all-new compact hatchback for the Indian market. So far codenamed as the AH2, we believe that in its production guise it will be christened as the Santro, bringing back the currently defunct and highly popular moniker to Hyundai’s model line-up for India. So far, Hyundai has managed to keep all the important details regarding this vehicle under wraps. However, curtsey numerous spy shots and leaked information, we do have sufficient information to build a rough characteristic of the vehicle. And to know that this car can turn out to be a nightmare for the competition.

Hyundai is always known for making cars with top-notch material quality. And taking into consideration all its previous offerings, even in the budget segment, we expect the new Santro to get a similar treatment. In addition to this, this new small car will also have a superior build quality in addition to good quality materials. Something which the competition lacks, even in the current scenario.

In addition to providing its cars with a premium persona, Hyundai is also to plonk its cars generously with features and creature comforts. Buyers who are looking for an up-market experience and are willing to spend the extra buck, have always preferred Hyundai models over its competition. Hence, we expect the new Santro to come loaded with features such as a touchscreen infotainment system, electrically foldable ORVMS and if Hyundai is a little bit too generous, automatic climate control with rear-air-con vents.

Apart from features, the new small car from Hyundai is also going to be well equipped in terms of safety kit. As standard, the 2018 Santro is going to offer dual front airbags, Anti-lock braking system, Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Reversing parking sensors. ISOFIX child seat mounts will also make the cut.

Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language has spawned some truly striking cars in the recent past. And the next-gen Santro is going to be based on the same aesthetic philosophy. With its European styling credentials, this car is bound to attract buyers, especially young professionals who are looking for a stylish city runabout.

Furthermore, Hyundai is likely to offer its tried and tested 1.2-litre VTVT petrol engine with the Santro. This unit is known for its smooth operation and impressive fuel economy numbers along with decent performance levels. Not only this but Hyundai is going to introduce, for the first time, an AMT transmission with this new small car.

In addition to all these, if Hyundai decides to name this new small car as the Santro, it will then also have the long history and legacy associated with it. And we Indians love that. Hyundai is going to launch this car in October, with prices likely to range from INR 3.5 lakh to 6.5 lakh.
