Latest scoop reveals that Hero Destini 125 will launch this September and will replace the Duet 125. It will get the same features which were speculated for the Duet 125. The upcoming 125cc scooter is expected to be priced around Rs 60,000 (ex-showroom). Read ahead to get more details about it.
Earlier, we had said that Hero Duet 125 and Hero Maestro Edge will launch in the festive season, mostly in September-October period. Well, the latest news suggests that the Duet 125 is going to be renamed as Hero Destini 125. At the latest media event, the Destini 125 was unveiled. It gets the same features that were going to come in the Duet. The Destini 125 is a premium offering, targeted mainly for family buyers. On the other hand, the Maestro Edge is mainly targeted towards the millennium. The scooter is designed and developed at Hero’s Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur. Currently, Hero has the Maestro Edge and Duet in its scooter lineup, which is 110cc scooters. Check out the details of the upcoming Hero Destini 125.

Powering the new Hero Destini 125 is a 125cc air-cooled engine that churns out 8.7 BHP of power and 10.2 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a CVT transmission. It gets Hero’s trademark Idle Start-Stop system, which maintains great fuel efficiency. This system switches off the engine when the scooter is idle for more than 10 seconds. It does not completely switch off and can be switched on again with accelerating.
The mileage expected on the scooter is around 50 KMPL. It comes with a fuel tank capacity of 5.5 Litres and 1 Litre reserve capacity. So, the total riding range of the scooter should be ideally around 250-270 Kms on a full tank.

For suspension duties, it uses Telescopic Hydraulic Shock Absorbers at the front and Unit Swing with spring loaded hydraulic at the rear. The weight of the scooter is a bit high at 116 kgs. It comes with 130mm disc brakes in the front and drum brakes at the rear side of the scooter. It is reported to also have an Integrated Braking System (IBS).
Features of the Hero Destini 125 would include Automatic-On headlamps, metal body, external fuel-filler cap, Mobile charging port and boot light, Semi-Digital instrument cluster with Service reminder, Clear Lens Turn Indicator and Halogen headlamps. These features are found in its main competitors – Suzuki Access 125 and Honda Activa 125.

We expect the scooter to be priced around Rs 60,000 (ex-showroom). The Maestro Edge will be priced over this scooter because it looks more sporty and gets some extra features like a Remote key opening, bigger wheels and more. At this price, it will primarily take on the Suzuki Access 125 and Honda Activa 125. Even these two are aimed at family buying and not for the youth. Hero Destini 125 will launch by September, as confirmed by Hero.
