Honda HR-V Facelift Showcased At 2018 GIIAS- India Launch In 2019

Honda HR-V Facelift has been showcased at the 2018 GIIAS. It gets minor cosmetic changes, new engine options along with new transmission options too. This model is mainly sold in Japanese and European markets. It will sit between Honda BR-V and CR-V. The compact SUV is expected to be priced around Rs 12 Lakhs to Rs 16 Lakhs, to take on the Hyundai Creta mainly. There are a lot of upcoming SUVs in this segment including the Toyota Rush, Kia Concept SP and more. This SUV is expected to reach the Indian shores by end of 2019. HR-V will be the fourth utility vehicle offering from Honda after WR-V, BR-V and CR-V. Although, it might be a late entrant in its segment and thus should be fully loaded with the latest features.

The showcased version of the Honda HR-V Facelift gets new engine options. It comes with a 1.5 Litre and 1.8 Litre petrol engine. The 1.5 Litre unit makes around 120 BHP of power and 145 Nm of torque. The 1.8 Litre unit churns around 139 BHP of power and 169 Nm of torque. The less powerful engine would come in all the variants. However, the other one would only come in CVT variants. high-end ones.

The European spec also gets a 1.6 Litre Diesel option, that produces 110 BHP of power and 250 Nm of torque. This engine might come in the India-spec HR-V, C-RV and the upcoming Honda Civic. The SUV will be mated to a 6-speed Manual with an optional CVT gearbox.

Changes on the exteriors include new LED headlamps, revised front grille, revised fog lamp covers and new 17-inch alloy wheels. In the interior, there are two colour options – Dual-tone beige and black interior finish – depending on the chosen variant.

The features of the Indian-spec SUV would include LED DRLs, LED headlamps, Panoramic Sunroof, 7-inch Infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, Automatic headlamps and Rain sensing wipers. For safety features, it would get Reverse parking sensors with camera, Hill Start Assist, Dual front airbags and ABS and EBD as standard, Brake Assist and more.

It will also feature the Paddle Shifters that were recently put in the Amaze. These are the features that are most expected. It might get some other extra features because, by the time it launches, the market would have cars with new or more premium features.

Coming to the competition, it might face the Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV500 and some variants of Hexa and the upcoming Harrier. This segment, currently, is very much challenging with Creta being at the forehead of this competition. Honda is known to price its cars higher than its competitors. Currently, Honda’s highest selling cars are the City and Amaze. The newly launched Jazz facelift might also increase Honda’s sales.
