Hyundai Verna Facelift is estimated to launch on the Indian subcontinent during the second half of 2020. It will get new 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines.
A number of media reports are stating that Hyundai Motors India has started working on a mid-cycle facelift for its c-segment sedan Verna for the Indian market. Current word in the circles is that the updated iteration of this sedan is going to launch in India sometime during the second half of 2020. In addition to the customary aesthetic changes, the new Hyundai Verna will also employ a set of new petrol and diesel engines. These new powerhouses will be 1.5-litre units and comply with BS-VI emission regulations.
Though the details regarding the exterior design and interior layout are still too early to comment on, IAB has envisaged what the Hyundai Verna Facelift could look like through a set of renderings. These sedan seen in these images takes its inspiration from the 2019 Hyundai Elantra and hence portrays a very sleek and sporty silhouette for the future iteration of the c-segment sedan.

The battle of sedans in the c-segment has currently turned all the way up to eleven in the recent past. With manufacturers launching new products, generation updates as well as mid-cycle refreshments, the buyers are currently spoilt for choices. All of this is despite the fact that the c-segment has witnessed a significant decline as an overall entity due to the rising popularity of compact SUVs. These utility vehicles offer sedan-like comfort, features, safety equipment and the likes along with the imposing silhouette of a bigger vehicle.
The Hyundai Verna, in its current iteration, made its debut in India almost a year back in August 2017. With this 3rd generation update in India, the Verna came with many segment firsts like ventilated seats and other creature comforts. After the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the Verna comes across as the second cheapest vehicle in the c-segment and a genuine bang-for-your-buck package.

Currently, the Hyundai Verna comes with a choice of a 1.6-litre VTVT petrol engine and a 1.6-litre CRDi diesel engine. The former is good for churning out 99 BHP along with 132 Nm of peak torque. While the latter can produce 126 BHP along with 260 Nm of peak torque. The exact power and torque outputs of the new 1.5-litre VTVT engine for the Verna are not out yet. However, we do believe that this engine is likely to launch in India coupled with a mild-hybrid system. The new 1.5-litre diesel engine will churn out 115 BHP and 250 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options are likely to remain the same. However, the prices can go up slightly.
