The people who lived through the 80s and 90s might know about the Jawa 350. It was one of the most popular bikes since the 1960s and had a major fan following. However, as time went, in the 1990s, the emission norms were changed and 2-stroke engines were stopped. Due to this, the Jawa 350 was discontinued in India in 1996. Since then, many people have a hobby of collecting and idolizing the bike. Meanwhile, a rejoice for the old fans. Anand Mahindra recently confirmed in a tweet that the Mahindra Jawa 350 is going to relaunch in India in this year. In 2016, Mahindra acquired the Ideal Jawa Ltd and also made a website for the remembrance of the bike. Without any further ado, here we give all the expected details in this article.
The 2017 model Jawa 350 looks much like the classic that once dotted our streets. It may be noted here that this Czech bike brand made it to our shores back in the 1960s when it was known as the Ideal Jawa. Back then, the bikes were manufactured in Mysore, Karnataka. Thee bikes went on to be known as ‘Yezdi’ during the latter part of their career. Jawa motorcycles went out of production in India in 1996.

While the price of new Jawa 350 in India will be announced only at the time of its launch, one thing that’s for sure is that the new bike will be positioned close to the Royal Enfield Classic 350. Hence, in all probability, the bike will not cost any more than Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom).

Powering the Jawa is a single-cylinder 350cc engine that comes from Chinese engine manufacturer Shineray. Basically, this engine is loosely based on an old Honda engine. This engine outputs a max. power of 26 BHP and a peak torque of 32 Nm. The engine comes along with a four-speed manual transmission. However, we’re hoping that Mahindra takes note of this and launches the new 350cc motorcycle here with a five-speed unit. The bike benefits from ABS.
