Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SUV is going to launch in India in 2020. It is expected to be priced around Rs 15 Lakhs onwards to take on Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier SUV. Check out the details of the upcoming premium SUV in India.
For long, Mitsubishi was in the limelight with its iconic Lancer. Mitsubishi Lancer was so fun to drive that many people did odd mod jobs on the sedan. It was used for drag races by many youngsters. After Lancer, the brand tried with the Pajero, which was again a successful SUV. However, after these two cars, none of the Mitsubishi cars has been successful enough. Recently, the Japanese brand launched the Mitsubishi Outlander at Rs 31.95 Lakhs, putting it against the Fortuner, Endeavour, and Tiguan. Now, it has also said that it will launch the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SUV in India to take on the Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier, and Mahindra XUV500. It will launch sometime in 2020, with an expected price of around Rs 15 Lakhs onwards.

Currently, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SUV comes only in 1.5 Litre Turbocharged petrol variant only. This engine produces around 152 BHP of power and 250 Nm of torque. However, by the end of 2018, a new 2.2 Litre Diesel engine might make its way in the Eclipse. The petrol one gets only CVT and the diesel one might get an 8-speed AMT. It will come in both 2WD and 4WD options.
Features onboard would include LED Headlights, Auto Headlamps, LCD Color MID, Dual Sun Visor, Heat Front seats, Height Adjustable Driver seats, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with inbuilt navigation, Cruise Control, Different Drive modes, Push Button Start and much more.

Safety features would include ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Electronic Parking brake, Traction Control, Active Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Front and Rear parking sensors with cameras, Collision Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control and 7 airbags. Whew! The list goes on and on.
If you know about the Eclipse, it was basically a coupe. Now, the Eclipse Cross SUV is an SUV-coupe version of the normal one. So, it also takes some design elements from Outlander and Expander. It gets the signature Mitsubishi grille along with a swooping roof and huge wheel arches. As we go towards the rear portion, it gets a more upright position. It has a unique feature when illumination, the tubular LED brake lights and the central LED high mount stop light form a single bar of light running across the back mirror on the tail boot.

We expect it to be priced somewhere starting from Rs 15 Lakhs onwards. It may go up to Rs 19-20 lakhs depending upon the variants that it comes in. At this price, it will perfectly take on with Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV500, and upcoming Tata Harrier SUV. If it goes above this price, then it might be a bit expensive creating low demand for the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SUV.
