For sure, the 2018 Honda CR-V is going to launch in India in October. For the first time, it will come with a diesel engine and 7-seater option. We expect it to be priced between Rs 25 Lakhs to Rs 30 Lakhs.
As the festive season is starting, a lot of launches are expected in this auspicious period. The latest news of the 2018 Honda CR-V says that it is going to launch on 9th October 2018 in the Indian market. The Automaker has confirmed this news. Now, the CR-V will be a 7-seater variant, as it gets an additional third row. It will take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and upcoming Mahindra XUV 700 (Y400). Currently, the SUV comes only with a petrol engine. That is also going to change now. The 2018 CR-V will feature a 1.6 Litre i-DTEC engine from the Honda Earth Dreams engine family. With this, it will receive a host of feature upgrades and a complete cosmetic makeover as well.

The turbocharged 1.6 Litre i-DTEC engine will come with the 2018 Honda CR-V. Globally, the CR-V gets the same engine but with the twin-turbochargers. The single turbocharged India spec engine produces around 120 BHP of power and 300 Nm of torque. It will come mated to a 6-speed Manual transmission with an optional 9-speed CVT with paddle shifters.
The diesel variant will come with 2WD and an optional 4WD. As it is getting 4WD, which does not mean that it can handle some serious off-roading. Currently, the SUV comes with a 2.0 Litre petrol engine for manual and AT and an optional 2.4 Litre for AT variant. The 2.0L engine produces around 156 BHP of power and 190 Nm of torque. The 2.4L engine churns out 190 BHP of power and 226 Nm of torque.

Features onboard the 2018 Honda CR-V will include all-LED lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, electric tailgate, panoramic sunroof, digital instrument cluster, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, power-operated front seats and electric parking brake.
For safety, it will continue with 6-airbags, vehicle stability assists, ABS with EBD, Motion adaptive electric steering, Hill start assist, electric parking brake and more. It also gets real-time 4WD for better changing between transfer ratios.

Currently, in this price range, the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner are the leaders. Both are large SUVs with much better spec-sheet and larger engines. The Fortuner and Endeavour start at around Rs 28 Lakhs. So, CR-V should ideally be priced below that so that it establishes its position as a cheaper rival to Endeavour and Fortuner. We expect the 2018 Honda CR-V to fall in the price range from Rs 25 lakhs to Rs 30 Lakhs.
