Royal Enfield Himalayan ABS has been launched in India. It gets a dual-channel ABS and is priced at Rs 1.79 Lakhs, Rs 11,000 costlier than the normal one. The ADV bike just gets this safety update and no further mechanical or cosmetic upgrade.
Recently, Royal Enfield Classic Signals 350 was the first RE bike to feature a dual-channel ABS. At that launch, RE confirmed that all of its bikes would soon feature ABS, starting from the ADV Himalayan. Now, the Royal Enfield Himalayan ABS has been launched in India. It is priced at Rs 1.79 Lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai), which is around Rs 11,000 costlier than the non-ABS variant. The Sleet version of the bike is priced around Rs 1,836 costlier than the standard variant. Currently, Himalayan is the most affordable dual-purpose bike in the Indian market, followed by BMW G 310 GS, which is much costlier than this. With this feature, we can say that Royal Enfield is getting modern with time.

What we do not know about the ABS variant is that if the ABS is switchable or not. Sometimes for better traction, ABS needs to be switched off. Along with it, gets an ABS sticker on the suspension and an ABS light on the console. Customer deliveries have begun in some parts of India and also dealerships have started receiving units of the bike. Pan-India deliveries will start very soon.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan comes with an air-cooled 411cc engine. This engine produces around 24.5 BHP of power and 32 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed transmission with a wet, multi-plate clutch. For better fuel supply, it uses Electronic Fuel Injection.

The Himalayan gets a Half-duplex split cradle frame with telescopic forks suspension in the front and Monoshock with linkage rear suspension. The front suspension comes with 200 mm travel and the rear suspension comes with 180 mm travel. For braking, as you know, it uses a 300 mm disc brake in the front and 240 mm disc at the rear.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan weighs 194 kgs in weight. It comes with a fuel tank capacity of 15 Litres and an estimated mileage of around 25 kmpl. So, the riding range of this bike is roughly around 350 kms. For better water wading capability, it comes with a higher placed upswept exhaust.

Features on the bike include newly equipped dual-channel ABS, a digital speedometer with riding range, higher placed headlamps, upswept exhaust, and various accessories and storage options. For the competition, it currently does not have any determined rival. The upcoming Hero Xpulse 200 might be a tough competitor because of a low price. As of now, the next ADV bike in line is the G 310 GS.
