The new World Car of the Year Awards long list is out. Which model will take the top prize in 2019?

World Car of the Year Awards

British brands Aston Martin, Jaguar and McLaren have made it on to the 2019 World Car Awards long-list. And each of these UK-based firms will settle for nothing less than a class win or, in Jaguar's case, the overall World Car of the Year (WCOTY) 2019 title.

But the Germans, Japanese and Koreans have more contenders than the Brits. Audi looks particularly strong and is determined to cling on to its impressive record of winning more World Car gongs than any other manufacturer.

Over the coming months, 85 international jurors - including Steve Fowler and Mike Rutherford of Auto Express - will be driving, evaluating and voting for/against all the contender models. After that, the World Car Awards Finals will be staged at the New York Auto Show in April 2019. As well as the overall winner, winning cars will be named in the Luxury, Performance, Green and Urban car categories while a world car design of the year will be selected from the models selected for the long-list in other categories.

Now in its 15th year, the World Car Awards is independently ranked as the No. 1 automotive awards programme on the planet. See the full list of the contenders below...
