2018 Hyundai Santro launched in India – Get Prices, Features and Specs

Here, is the most awaited car of the year. The 2018 Hyundai Santro has been launched in India with prices starting at Rs 3.89 Lakhs. The tall-boy hatchback gets many segment first features and Hyundai-first AMT gearbox. 

The 2018 Hyundai Santro is the most awaited car in India this year and has finally been launched in India. The new Santro (Read More) retains the original tall-boy looks with many premium features. Hyundai has fused many segment first features in this hatchback, which includes Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Rear AC vents and more. It continues with a new version of its same old 1.1 Litre Epilson petrol engine. Along with this, the Santro also gets a CNG variant and Hyundai’s first AMT gearbox setup.

2018 Hyundai Santro

The pricing range of the new Santro starts from Rs 3.89 Lakhs and goes up to Rs 5.64 Lakhs (ex-showroom prices New Delhi). The Santro comes in total 9 variants. Following is the variant wise price list.

  1. D-Lite: Rs 3,89,900
  2. Era: Rs 4,24,900
  3. Magna: Rs 4,57,000
  4. Sportz: Rs 4,99,900
  5. Asta: Rs 5,45,900
  6. Magna CNG: Rs 5,23,900
  7. Sportz CNG: Rs 5,64,900
  8. Magna AMT: Rs 5,18,900
  9. Sportz AMT: Rs 5,46,900

Talking about the exteriors, it follows the Hyundai Fluidic 2.0 Design language. That said, it gets a sharp yet elegant design with a hint of sporty looks. Since it is positioned between Grand i10 and Eon, the 2018 Hyundai Santro borrows some design cues from the Grand i10. The new Santro also follows the cascading grille design which houses the number plate and is flanked by front fog lamps. The tall-boy design with a rather upright rear portion.

Since it is Hyundai, the 2018 Hyundai Santro gets plush and premium interiors. It follows an all-black theme on the dashboard with brushed silver highlights surrounding the AC vents and on the steering wheel. The new Santro comes offers generous cabin space and practicality with various storage spaces.

Safety features onboard the 2018 Hyundai Santro include:

  2. Front Fog lamps

  4. Rear Parking sensors with a parking camera
  5. Keyless Entry
  6. Driver and passenger airbags
  7. ABS with EBD
  8. Speed Sensing Auto Door lock

The new Hyundai Santro uses the revised version of the same 1.1 Litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that powered the original Santro. The petrol engine produces 63 HP and 90 Nm of peak torque. Along with a petrol variant, the Santro also gets a CNG variant. The CNG variant chugs out 59 HP and 84 Nm of torque.

For transmission, the tall-boy uses a 5-speed manual gearbox and AMT unit for the petrol variants. The CNG gets a 5-speed manual gearbox only. The AMT unit is in-house developed and comes for the first time in any Hyundai car.

The mileage of the petrol variant is 21.6 kmpl and 20 kmpl on the AMT variant. The CNG variant offers 30 km/kg of mileage.

The Hyundai Santro comes in 7 color options:

  1. Polar White
  2. Typhoon Silver
  3. Stardust
  4. Marina Blue
  5. Fiery Red
  6. Diana Green
  7. Imperial Beige

The new Santro is 3610 mm long, 1645 mm wide and 1560 tall. It gets a wheelbase of 2400 mm. In the front, the new Santro uses McPherson Strut suspension and Coupled Torsion Beam Axle suspension in the rear.

Lastly, talking about the competition, it goes against Maruti Suzuki Celerio, WagonR, Tata Tiago and Renault Kwid. Well, now we have a tough competitor in this compact mid hatchback segment.
