Hero Xpulse 200 is slated to launch in India by early 2019. So, here are 5 facts that you must know about the upcoming ADV bike. It will be the cheapest dual-purpose bike in India.
Dual-purpose bikes are very limited in India. To start with, there is the Royal Enfield Himalayan, which is the cheapest one right now. Then comes the BMW G310 GS, Kawasaki Versys and a couple of more. Earlier, the cheapest one came from Hero‘s family, Hero Impulse. After the demise of Impulse due to poor sales, Hero is once again testing waters in this segment with the Hero Xpulse 200. 1. Starting off with the design, Hero Xpulse 200 does not look very different from the Impulse. However, the Xpulse has upgraded itself from Impulse for good. It gets lesser body panels than the Impulse, which makes it look more intimidating. In the front, it gets the round headlamps, high positioned mudguard, windscreen and guards on the handlebars. On the side, it gets the sleek fuel tank, a belly pan and a high position upswept exhaust muffler. At the rear, it gets the fender placed well above the tire but misses out on a rear tire hugger. It defies the looks for a lightweight dual-purpose bike.

2. Xpulse 200 will use the same engine that comes in the Xtreme 200R. It gets a 200cc air-cooled engine that puts out 18 BHP and 17 Nm of peak torque. The engine pairs up with a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. The engine is a bit conventional with an air-cooling system, but Hero says that the engine would not disappoint you.
3. Unlike the Xtreme 200R, this bike will get many premium features. Hero Xpulse 200 will come with features such as full LED headlamps, knuckle guards, dual-purpose tires, fully digital instrument cluster, engine kill switch and GPS navigation on the cluster. For safety purposes, it might get front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS setup.

4. Talking about the off-roading capabilities, it will come with a bigger 21-inch tire in the front and 19-inch tire at the back. For suspension, it will use Long Travel Telescopic forks suspension in the front and 10-step adjustable gas-charged mono-shock absorbers. The ground clearance is good enough at 167 mm. Also, the ABS can be switched off while off-roading.

5. Since Hero plans to launch most of its premium bikes around Rs 1 Lakh, this might follow the same price range. We expect it to cost around Rs 1.2 Lakhs or so. At this price, it is the cheapest ADV bike, overtaking Himalayan. The RE Himalayan is more powerful and costly, with prices starting at Rs 1.68 Lakhs (ex-showroom prices).
