Hyundai Santro

Hyundai has launched the 2018 Santro with a petrol derivative only. The all-new Santro is currently available at a base price of INR 3.89 lakh. While the top-of-the-line variant retails at an ex-showroom price of INR 5.45 lakh. These prices are introductory and valid for the first 50,000 customers. Prices are likely to go up after the first stocks clear.

Tata Tiago

The Tata Tiago, unlike the Hyundai Santro and the Maruti Celerio, is available in both petrol as well as diesel engine options. The base petrol variant of the Tiago retails at INR 3.40 lakh. While the top-end petrol variant costs INR 5.63 lakh. On the other hand, the base diesel variant of this hatchback goes for INR 4.21 lakh. And the top-end trim retails at INR 6.05 lakh.

Maruti Celerio

Talking about the Maruti Celerio, it earlier used to offer both petrol as well as diesel derivatives. However, due to low demand, Maruti Suzuki decided to discontinue the small yet quite fuel efficient two-cylinder petrol engine from the line-up. For Celerio, the Base petrol variant retails at INR 4.21 lakh. While the top-end variant goes for INR 5.40 lakh.

Hyundai Santro

As mentioned before, the Hyundai Santro (Read More) is currently available on with a petrol engine in its line-up. This engine is a 1.1-litre, 4-cylinder motor. it power output stands at 69 BHP. While the torque figure at 99 Nm. Across its five variants, as standard, you get a 5-speed manual gearbox. But that’s not all. Hyundai’s first AMT gearbox makes its debut in India with the new Santro. This Automated Manual Transmission is available across two mid-spec trims.

Though the Santro does not offer a diesel derivative, Hyundai is offering it with a factory fitted CNG kit. It runs on the same 1.1-litre engine as we see on the gasoline-driven variants. However, their power outputs are slightly lower than the former.

Tata Tiago

The Tiago offers both petrol as well as diesel derivative in its line-up. Its petrol engine is a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder unit which is from Tata’s Revotron series. It generates 84 BHP of power while the torque figure stands at 114 Nm. As standard, it is available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, there is a 5-speed AMT gearbox also on offer.

The diesel derivative of the Tata Tiago is a 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder engine from the Revotorq series. This oil-burner is capable of producing 69 BHP of power along with 140 NM of peak torque. Across all the diesel variants, the Tiago is available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. There is no automatic variant on offer.

Maruti Celerio

The Maruti Celerio, as mentioned before, comes only with a petrol engine in its model line-up. This engine is a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder unit. It is capable of producing 67 BHP along with 99 Nm of peak torque. As standard, it is available with the 5-speed manual gearbox. However, there is an automatic (AMT) gearbox also on offer across select variants. Just like the Santro, the Celerio is also available with a factory fitted CNG kit across 2 variants.

Hyundai Santro

Hyundai states that the new Santro, in all its guises i.e. with petrol, CNG, as well as the petrol AMT variants, is going to offer an ARAI claimed mileage figure of 20.3 km/l. In real-world conditions, you can expect this figure to range in-between 16 to 18 km/l.

Tata Tiago

The petrol variant of the Tata Tiago promises to offer an ARAI certified fuel-efficiency figure of 23.84 km/l. Real world mileage figures for this hatchback stand at 18-20 km/l. The diesel derivative, on the other hand, promises to offer quite an impressive efficiency figure of 27.28 km/l.

Tata Tiago
