KTM Duke 125 might launch in India next month- Report

As per the reports say, KTM Duke 125 might launch in India next month. It will the cheapest and least powerful KTM bike, going against Yamaha R15 V3. It will look similar to the 390 Duke with little visual changes.  

As of now, there are no performance oriented 125cc bikes in India. Moreover, this segment is for commuter motorcycles. In the 125cc segment, KTM might make an entry as a performance motorcycle. The KTM Duke 125 is rumoured to launch next month around the Diwali period. It is not confirmed as of now, but there might be chances. The Duke 125 is available in the global markets and we have the photos and specs of the bike. It will look similar to Duke 390 with some changes to the graphics and decals.

Earlier, KTM confirmed that it would not launch the Duke 125 in India. The primary reason is that this segment is for commuter motorcycles. Also, the prices 125 would be high as compared to other bikes. Now, this bike would go as a performance-oriented commuter bike.

The KTM Duke 125 would get a similar body to 390. The main differences would include a ‘125’ decal below the fuel tank and the graphics. Also, the features would be lesser than that of Duke 200 or 390. However, it might come with a two-channel Bosch ABS and the Bosch engine management system.

For suspension, it uses USD Forks in front and a mono-shock absorber in the back. It is also built on the same Steel Trellis frame chassis, which also comes on the other Duke variants. The total dry weight of the bike is around 137 kgs.

The KTM Duke 125 will be powered by a 125cc single cylinder fuel-injected engine. The engine gives out 15 HP and 14 Nm and comes paired to a 6-speed slipper clutch gearbox. This engine would give good acceleration features along with a decent mileage figure.

Recently, the Pulsar 125 was launched in Poland, which we think might come to India as well. Rajiv Bajaj has confirmed that it is planning to launch more affordable Pulsar bikes in India. So, if we compare it on the basis of specs, these two would go against each other.

The pricing would be much higher than that of Pulsar 125. As per our knowledge, the KTM Duke 125 might cost around Rs 1.2 Lakhs. At this price, it will compete with the Yamaha R15 V3.
