India made Maruti Swift has scored a rather poor 2-stars for adult occupant protection and child occupant protection in recent Global NCAP crash tests.
In the recently conducted crash tests by Global NCAP, India made Maruti Swift has scored a rather disappointing 2-stars for adult occupant safety. The compact premium hatchback scored a similar 2-star for child occupant safety as well.
This score was given to the Maruti Swift due to ‘high compression to driver’s chest, unstable structure and poor protection for the feet explained by pedal displacement on the driver side’.
Global NCAP took the base variant of the Maruti Swift for this crash test. It comes as standard with dual airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

The Global NCAP report further stated that India made Swift, unlike its European counterpart, does not come with side and curtain airbags along with electronic stability control which are standard fitments in Europe. This is one of the major reasons for the rating given to this hatchback.
Just a couple of weeks back, during Global NCAP’s world summit, organized in Delhi, the organization has released the crash test results for the Vitara Brezza. Unlike the Swift, the sub-compact SUV scored an impressive 4-stars for adult occupant safety. However, it too managed to score just 2-stars for child occupant safety. All that said, in comparison to the older generation Swift, the 2018 iteration scored significantly better.
